    • I am certain that race contributes to this issue....race relations in France is pretty crazy. I did some research of the treatment of North Africans living there.

    • Wow, I didn't realize how old this was.

It definitely depends on the person, edmistse. It's not easy to find stable employment in the 'States either, unless you consider Walmart 'stable employment'. So many young people in the U.S. are unable to afford a college education, and therefore find it very difficult to attain steady, adequate jobs. In France, a law was passed in 2005 which allowed for companies to fire employees immediately without having to provide a reason for doing so. And more countries are following suit. This causes competition to develop amongst those in search of jobs, competition to work for the least amount of money. This creates an even greater gap in the proletariat. Many Europeans experience better job security than in the United States, and are only beginning to realize the downside of the new systems coming into play. Americans have dealt with such lack of job security for years and years.

    • Thanks, this is really great to see. After having studied abroad there and living with french students, I have a much greater appreciation for the opportunities that we have in the US and the ready availability of job options.
