Dear Americans,
I would like to propose a "NATIONAL STRIKE DAY" for every American that is able. I have heard France has been doing this with great success. Please let us get everyone engaged here and anywhere we can post this message or one of your own.
The Questions I would ask here are as follows: What day should it be and when and how often? Once a month to start or? I believe this would really give the people back their power in this country. It is time to take action! If we do not take some action now as our Declaration of Independence says we have the right and obligation to, it looks like our country will fall.
People are losing their homes by the millions, and jobs of course with it, and our government with the media's help are trying to hide it from us. They are going to let us just fall, we have to save ourselves, to many good people's lives are being ruined.
This is the responsibility of a free people. Be sure the world bankers have a diabolical plan for us and unless we truly want to be slaves, we have to do something. I am open to other ideas, or maybe someone is already doing this (I heard something). I plead with each American here on Twitter to get involved and support this idea, and everywhere else we can get this message out.
This will be a peaceful way to get our government's attention, while we take back our country. Trust me if George Washington and the many honorable men and women who fought our war of Independence were here today, they would have already taken action years ago, many years ago, and I doubt it would be very peaceful.
Thus, no one works until our demands are met. Start with say five or ten demands. So my idea, proposal is that Americans just go to the street, your city hall, or what is ever appropriate in your state. No one works until our demands are met. But absolutely No violence, no vandalism, no matter what please. That will destroy our honest political cause afforded us by our constitution. In fact, we should make, in my opinion that it is a very somber and quite sit in, almost complete silence until our demands are met, so they cannot try and intimidate people or arrest them unlawfully as they have been doing. I believe this is very important point, no conflict what so ever, just freeze everything. We are all allowed to stay home from work. We need to get employers involved obviously.
My list of demands start as follows:
1.) No more bail outs, but instead money is to be given directly to the American people.
I heard some experts are saying that this is the only real cure, some 450,000.00 to each American is the answer to our financial crisis. http://www.dvorak.org/blog/?=263212.) Abolish the IRS, period!
3.) Reinstate our fourth Amendment rights.
4.)
5.)
I hope others will give their suggestions. I would recommend we elect a board and thus work to organize our first AMERICAN NATIONAL STRIKE DAY, or if someone has already started this, please if anyone is aware of this let me know.

Exactly, neogaia!
Protesting is far more than "drawing up a clever sign." We are making sure there is a presence of opposition. We are making sure that the average American, who watches one of 3 "news" stations, is aware that they are NOT hearing all of the story. Those three stations do NOT represent a cross section of America.
In addition to "making a nuisance of" myself, I write to my representatives regularly, I call them regularly, I go meet them at their offices and educate them. I make my stance known to them. I let them know why I take these stances.
I learn about candidates and I vote. I sign the petitions. I blog. I write to the newspapers. I respond to posts like yours. I do my best to stay educated despite the patronizing "mainstream" American media that seem to believe the average American IQ is 12 and the average attention span that of a gerbil.
While protesting, I am networking. I am learning about other groups out there. I am meeting like-minded activists and building support for a variety of causes. I am actively pursuing truth and justice.
What are you doing?

Way to be a smart alleck, wowow.
For your information, if you had payed attention to my post, you would know I am in college, so I am not of age to run as an elected representative.
Protesting, is probably one of the rarer things I do, I do lots more activism that is lots of other different things.
Thanks for being a real assuming jerk, in fact, I DO plan to run for office in the future and would actually have a chance of winning an elected office my hometown neighborhood
And protesting is not selfish, I'll get to look the next generation in the eye when I am older and look them in the eye and tell them that I stood up and made my voice heard while most people didn't and let our country go to the brink of ruin.

What is protest accomplishing? I would suggest getting personally involved in government, becoming an elected representative and making real change in the country's policy. If enough people agree with your message you will have no problem getting votes. Drawing-up a clever sign and being a general nuisance will get you no where. It is a selfish act. Example: "I was at that protest and I think I hear myself in the background at that protest and what a swell person I am for being at that protest, etc..." So what have you changed?

Wow, I was watching this on Current, & I had some good flashbacks.
I was at this protest in September & it was incredibly inspiring.
Even more inspiring though, is that one of my friends was interviewed in the clip while she is participating in civil disobedience.
And the video ends with the chants of students saying "This is what democracy looks like", the voices are of students from my college. I even heard my own voice in the chant because its so high pitched it stands out at moments.
Its just incredible because there were so many people so many, people taking pictures, & video. You never know when or where you might end up on video at these things :)
Its really cool to be part of this video which I am sure inspired many others :)

People voting for Nixon got Nixon elected.
So how do you propose people express their discontent with this or any administration?

I've come to see protests as grandstanding by people that usually seem a little "unstable." And they seem to accomplish nothing of real value. Actually it may hurt the cause. Example: After the protests at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago - Nixon was elected... Great job!

This video gave me the chills. I recognized a protest I attended in March of this year. Here are my photos from 3 different protests - Washington, Kennebunk and Boston.

I think this is an excellent video.
I live in a small town, so protest like Marracino photographs isn't a normal thing, but petitions and flyers do the same thing on a smaller level.
People forget that we have a right to friendly protest. We should take advantage of that right. - 4 years ago
