    • Great pod! I really like how you took an amusing and novel aspect of Egyptian culture and used it as a symbol of some of the larger struggles and issues currently unfolding. It was fun to ride some of the elevators (from the safety of solid ground!) and get a glimpse at Egyptian daily life. The people appearing in the pod were great and really spoke to many of the points of view I imagine are currently swirling through the region. Well done finding a great angle to a tricky topic!

    • That's insane! I agree, they should fix it. Egypt is a pretty poor place to begin with, so I guess they have better things to spend their money on, rather than machines that still work.

    • Now, I really like thrill rides, but take the stairs! I dunno about elevators that require that I pray for my safety when I step in! Really good job on the pod though. A ton of cool new information. This is definitely something that is not known by many. I thought your choice to do this entirely from your POV is interesting. It gives us a sense of your character without actually seeing you. maybe it's the first person sense of the possibility of falling at any moment. Really great job!

    • As a religiously observant American I am happy to be reminded that many everyday Muslims are serious living their traditions. I believe that we people of the book have a lot in common and the more serious we are about our traditions the more we have in common and the more we will tend to respect each other.

      Besides, I've done my share of elevator praying in the old buildings of New York and Chicago.

    • I like the fact that you literally dice with death every time you step into a lift. Life should be a challenge, life should scare us, our lives should be at risk every day. We live cleansed and easy lives in the West, where not much really happens.

      Give me a shaky weird elevator any day over the sanitation of modern society.
