Crisis In Kenya

I am from the tribe Luyha, and it is true that the election's was a tribal thing; it is good that my country is now settled thanks to Kofi Annan and the western countries who put pressure to our government but now the new administration must deliver in their promise and move the country forward.

i'm currently working on a relief project to help aide internally displaced kenyans...& i felt like i just had to comment on how sad it is that this crisis, as well as many others so often take back seats to trivial pseudo-news everyday until they fade into the background.
i'm also more than a little disappointed that the ever hip & socially conscious current.com message boards only have 8 responses to such an important & moving pod.
though the election was in december the wounds of the people have yet to be healed. right now the cyclone in myanmar is fresh in everyone's minds, but in 6 months when the initial aide money is gone they will still need help rebuilding their infrastructure.

if anything positive could be taken from the situation in kenya it would have to be the inspiration that can be gleaned from seeing a country of citizens that is so actively engaged in controlling their own destinies that they've decided to fight back against having the presidency stolen...unfortunately, that's more than i can say for the so called democratic presidential election process here in the u.s.

Amie. Just saw your documentary on Kenya and I must say that I am really moved - Grew up there and am really saddened by how things are seemingly desparate. I can relate to sitting up all night following the news; helpless, trying to get a hold of my friends in Kenya.

Look forward to your movie. Can I suggest hitting up local Kenyan bloggers reporting the media or even some local US organizations that sponsor young women like Akili Dada?

this was a great pod, but that was just horrible what they did. I mean, being mad is one thing, but RAPING someone out of anger in a hallway is COMPLETELY insane. Poor Stella. I hate those people who think they can rig elections and no one will notice! look at the suffering he's caused them!!

Great show - fantastic, and far more in-depth than any of the other Kenya coverage at the moment.

Thats very sad and just shows you how Africa is unpredictable, never get too comfortable in Africa, always have a plan B. I think its not just Africa but Africa seems to suffer more than other places. Who cursed Africa?
