Class of 08: Job Hunt

CJCollectiveWorks
Its "The Graduate" updated for our times--what does the future hold for the Class of 2008 as they attempt to make their way in this world under an increasingly darker economic cloud. Will the high oil prices sink their prospects or will younger workers replace older more expensive ones as the children of late 80s finally get to work?

    • awesome piece! this is exactly why i've started a company (ad/interactive agency) that will hire college students. they get real project and real world experiences with real companies BEFORE they graduate. in the process they get matched up with several potential employers who get a feel for the students approach and work ethic!

    • Nice subject, good idea, you even found the right people! But you loose focus a lot. I didn't get a clear picture of the problems the US graduates are facing, it was too chaotic.

    • I graduated in '06 and can totally relate to the employment issues highlighted in this pod. As someone with a double major and honors, I too have been wondering what I've been doing wrong for this to happen. I consider myself a smart person, but did not see this coming before I graduated. I'm so thankful that I worked my way through college and don't have student loans to pay back. Now I'm wondering if I should go to grad school or not. Would it make me more competitive, or would I be in the same boat, just with debt added?

    • Good luck to you all. Juniors take note internship is your greatest tool. However you cant just intern and expect a backdoor admission. You must demand what you want and be willing to be unconventional. Most companies want you to be smart enough to fix the photocopier but dumb enough to not know your getting screwed. We are in a time where people can earn millions for doing nothing beneficial for a corporation. Be willing to take these people down and set the example for generations to come. Leadership takes initiative and sacrifice.
