Chest Whistling

Mongolian throat singing is a traditional form of music where the singer is able to sing multiple octaves at once using only his throat to make the sound. It is an amazing feat, something that is hard to believe. I spent one afternoon walking around Mongolia's capital, Ulanbaatar, in search of someone who could tell me more about this traditional form of expression. Spurred on by my sister's obsession with said music, I spent the whole day until I eventually ran into Zagd Ochir at the Tumen Ekh Ensemble in downtown UB. This is what he shared with me.
