Rewriting LA History

For many Los Angelenos, even natives, a common effect of the urban sprawl is a feeling of disconnectedness to the city they call home. A social anthropology professor at UCLA seeks to "cure" this ailment by combining technologies found in twitter, flickr, and you average, everyday cell phone.

    • What a great concept! I think this could be duplicated all over the map. Somebody call G the super rich dropout and see if he can invest some capital so we can get this project moving. With over twohundred billion dollars in grants for education, art and technology, surely we could get continous funding after the project has launched. In all fairness we should ask some of the existing tour guides to help in the project so we dont add to the ever increasing unemployment rate. jrayg

    • Hey there was a video on the current tv channel of a dude bashing Los Angeles. He poked fun at the bars, men walking tiny girly dogs, bad bars. He broke it down about LA. At the end of the segment he said, "Oh well i think i'll just pass out on the beach"

Anyone know what im talking about. Is there a link to the video?

    • i hate it when people become so territorial. im from the south bay in LA and some of the kids ive met in college who live in hollywood or santa monica would say that the south bay isnt really LA.

i wonder if this sprawl is what makes us so 'superficial;' how we can be so fashion and image conscious means we always have to rep something where ever we go, and its everyone for themselves.

regardless. i still love LA .

    • i'm from LA too, but i actually do feel connected, always have. i've been everywhere, done everything, love it all! i love my city babyyy. but still, i feel like i could learn more, i can always learn more. no matter how much you know, its always nice to know more, especially when you care about it. i think the project is a great idea, it gets people involved and aware of the history of the city of angels. and with a city thats been around this long, theres bound to be some bit of history left to discover... or rediscover. L dot A dot.

    • I'm from LA myself and I really support this idea. I think it's great to know more about where you're from and the history of where you live. Los Angeles is so spread apart and it's hard to feel connected.
