I'm embarrassed to admit that the thought of a homeless person in Japan has never crossed my mind. It's interesting how the city just waits until it's clear to start taking away their space. In the U.S. they would just boot em out with force if necessary. Check out the documentary Dark Days

Thats a completely different look into japan that I have never seen. It hurts me to see how people live like this, specially when there are gluttons all over the work who could share or help someone get back on their feet. I know some homeless that prefer to be homeless for their own reason. But all you need is a little help and you can get out of that problem..
very nice pod, it was not very sad because the man showed that he still has a life and makes a little money for whatever it might be that he needs, selling used comic books. someone should give him a comic book store.. if i were rich i would.

Even though this is a very big eye openner to homeless in Japan, one must look at how many homeless compared to other places in the world. When Japan is compared to the rest of the countries in the world, one can see that there really aren't that many homeless people living there. Even when compared to the United states one can see that Japan really doesn't have it all that bad. With the economy allover the world suddenly going into a recession, I'll bet the number of homeless has gone up by more than 50% (just a guess, but I'll bet its a lot)
Maybe someone, who lives in a big city here in the U.S. can make a POD about how many homeless are in there city, I'll bet it dworfs Japan's. That would be a huge eye openner to the people of the U.S., around the world for that matter. - 3 years ago

that was a great pod - thank you for providing some insight into the issue of homelessness in Tokyo. in most parts of the world homeless people are quickly discarded members of society, it's nice to see that they are just people too - trying to have some fun, with interests and voices that matter.
