Though I am an optimistic person, I truly believe the bailout plan is a failure by default. Failure is inevitable for companies that are unable to keep up with the innovation of competitors.
What happens if this "recession" continues longer than anticipated? This is a waste of taxpayer's money.

You know what Pisses me? All My Life I have been driving small Japanese Cars to conserve Gas. I wouldn't buy an American Car.The Japanese were way ahead of America in quality and dependability. I remember the Gas lines of the 70's. I figured okay I'll do My bit. This was way before all this Go Green got popular. Then in the late 80's and 90's They started in with the big S.U.V.'s Consumers thumbed their noses at Me as they bullied their way around the Freeways terrifying Me and My Kids in our little Japanese Car. The carnage and Death these Assholes created was intolerable. I thought, Someday You Fuckers! I'd get pissed seeing all these embrionic brained Morons flying around with no one except the Driver(or so they thought) in the Vehicle and I thought, These Auto Manufactures will pay for this someday. Well the Roosters have finally come Home to roost! And George does this! I can tell U this. I feel for the Employees of the Big Car Manufacturers but I just can't reach em. I say, let the Chinese buy em out and Fuckem! The Executives and on down the line to the Engineers of this bullshit deserve just exactly what they got.. I have no pity. In the real Business World You either sink or swim. You know I'm no Genius but even I could see the folly and the Arrogance of the mindset of these idiots making and purchasing these wasteful dangerous pieces of Crap! I remember, Oh Yeah I'm gonna burn up that Gas who cares, I love My S.U.V. Well, when gas raced up to $4.00 a gal. I relished hearing the news stories showing these Gas Pigs crying at the Pumps. You couldn't give away the pieces of shit! Well Whaaa, Whaaa, Whaaa,. tough shit Sherlock. Suck on it now, hahahaha. It's about time reality shocked it's way into what We are seeing now. My Message to American Auto Companies. "Eat Flaming Shit and Die".!!! Nuff said. Thanks alot George You idiot..And the real deal is that if Your still running one of these Gas Pigs, better get it into the Recycler quick cause it ain't over yet Dummies!

No one is buying any cars right now,
Toyota just lost money for the first time in their history!
It not just the American automakers that are ailing.
How can we not help them survive, they are the the back bone of America.
They just need some time to change their perceptions.
Japanese cars were also once seen as crap, it took a while for them to be accepted by the American public.
We'd be fools to not do this.

Great 17+ billion down the crap shoot! Only in chapter 11 can these companies restructure the unions and other obligations to become profitable. Oh and no one is buying american cars right now and will most likely hold back until that 3 months has passed or just a buy a foreign car.

And then I hear today that "Commercial Realestate" is taking a hit and in need of a federal handout. Really guys?? When does it end? How bout the Gov distributes 1 trillion in cash and hands it out to the people. How much would that be? A cold million?? Screw the companies, screw the infrastructure, I'll take my cash and be content. Now that's how we jump start the economy!

It's not a bailout- it's a LOAN- with strings. Unlike the Wall Street/Bank bailout-which was basically a gift with no rules. At least with the automakers the loans will help to save lots of middle class jobs instead of providing bonuses for inept, corrupt desk jockeys.
I would venture to say that the cost of unemployment compensastion, medicaid, etc for the THREE MILLION people who would lose their jobs if the US auto industry went under- would exceed the cost of any aid to the Big 3. Add to that the double whammy of those same 3 million people no longer paying taxes to the treasury and what do we have?? Total economic collapse (if we're not there already) Remember, it's not just the corporate employees and UAW members who have a stake in this. You also have the dealers and their employees (management, sales, technicians, service writers, parts dept, detailers, body shop, lot guys, office staff), as well as the companies that supply parts to the automakers. None of them have union protections. Then we WOULD have a redux of the Great Depression. And bankruptcy reorganization is not an option either-nobody will buy a new car from a company that might not be around to service it under the warranty. - 3 years ago

I think it's total bullshit that he's allowed to waste billions of tax dollars just so their collapse doesn't further hurt his image. Utterly ridiculous.
Why do we even have 3 branches of government anymore? Executive was apparently granted free reign in the past 8 years.
