Gaza Rockets

Zouheir Alnajjar, a Collective Journalism contributor who lives in Gaza, gives us an exclusive look at a group of Palestinian militants who make - and set off - homemade rockets headed for Israel.

For years Palestinian militant groups such as Hamas have fired these homemade rockets into Israeli towns and settlements as a means of resistance against the IDF and Israeli occupation or embargoes. Thousands of rockets have fallen on Israel and over a dozen have been killed.

    • when will the killing end, why do people use the name of god to justify killing others, both side are wrong to me. Palestinian militant should not be trying to kill Israeli people, and IDF should find a diplomatic why to handle these rocket attacks. Stop putting GOD NAME to justify killing others. as for the reporters who made theis video, just know that beside showing other people how to make these rocket, you stud by and watch mad men shot a rocket with the intent of killing inset people and did nothing(but I guess there not much you could have done). If the human races as any hope to survive we all need to find diplomatic why to solve are problems.

      You need to place yourself in the Israeli's shoes. What exactly would you do if creeps nextdoor were lobbing missles into your home? Talk to them diplomatically? When you consider that only insane, hateful people are lobbing missles, diplomacy flies out the window. The only ones using god as an excuse are the muslims. The Jews want peace and are doing the right thing by protecting their own. Once all of hamas is dead, then maybe diplomacy can be used. Until then it will never happen.

      Look gizmo, you have some serious problems with your thought processes. Without fatah and hamas and with a decent government Gaza would be a resort area. It is all of the people in Gaza who are responsible for what has been happening. Get a grip guy, they kill their own without second thoughts. They use children as propaganda and when none die, they fake the videos to get sympathy. Israel needs to go back in and take Gaza for their own and watch it bloom. Without the fakeastinians Israel would live in peace and quiet.

    • ok look the only way that these two races can be at peace is if one is arraticated. Even if the two leaders make a peace aggrement the people of palastine and israel will still hate eachother and because of that the fighting will not stop,atleast not in our lifetime or our childrens lifetime. The reason these people are like this is because its been this way sence their exsistence. the only way that these tow can have a chance at peace is if somebody(another country) comes in and puts a damn bot on their throat and make them stop and if that doesnt happen then we will sit back and watch these two people fight until one is off the face of this earth. and the hole getting along if they pray to the same god is total bull. god is the reason they are fighting, god is the reason why most wars start, god is the reason why the people think of themselves as better or higher than the rest. religion is the root of aggresion and oppresion each religion says that their way is right an others are wrong. so i say that ideas are better than religion, you can change an idea about something, but people kill for religion.

    • Both sides LOVE war and LOVE violence.
      These boys launching the rocket aren't doing it for a cause, they're doing it cause its fun.

      And when any bodies are shown or death counts counted, its almost always in a manner that justifies one side or the other for violent more violence. Deaths aren't viewed as anything more than a statistic for propaganda.

    • It seems like the US has made up its mind. WE'RE going to let Isreal do whatever they want.

      Israeli soldiers might as well be American soldiers because every Muslim rebel sees it that way. Why wouldn't they? With the history of US support so grossly given to Isreal... weapons, money, etc.

      *Windows of Al shifa' hospital destroyed in bombings nearby while stormy and rainy weather in
      *Two Israelis killed in Palestinian homemade rockets.

    • How is this glamorizing terrorists? This is showing how far people will go in their desperation, hatred, and religious zeal to be heard. I don't think it is right to do what they are doing, but I sure would like to understand better why they do it. We don't get that from the MSM in this country. To do what they do by definition is for sure terrorism, but what then does that make the Israeli government that has been terrorizing Palestinian people as well for all of these years with their bombs that they buy from the US, and their blockades, and their shutting off electricity and water?

All I hear is how many Palestinians have died. Never do I hear about Israeli deaths. All media outlets, save a couple always put on an anti-Israeli spin.
      You disgust me. The only reason I will watch in the future is to see how the other side thinks.

      10 Israeli deaths. Last count of Palistinean deaths (Dec. 30th as reported by BBC and CNN): over 400.

      Class, let's review what is known.

      A large population of peoples are, quite literally, imprisoned by a foreign nation. All contact with the external world is cutoff. Including the basics of life such as food.

      The prisoners are little grumpy -- as most people are when they're starving. They manage to get a little attention by lobbing some homemade firecrackers at the surrounding foreign nationals. Their military "technology" Shit and suger.

      They manage to wing 10 of their jailers. So, the jailers respond with apache attack helicopters, modern tanks, morters, etc.

      Jailers killed: 10
      Dead Prisoners: 400+ (to date)

      Hmmm.... I'm impressed with just how well the Isreali's learned modern warfare from the US armed forces.

      I'm sorry, but that's incredibly flippant and that's where the metaphor breaks down. They didn't "wing" anyone. Those victims are _DEAD_. Secondly, those "jailers" were CIVILIANS, not agents of the state. At least Israel attempts to make that distinction. Hamas simply doesn't care who they hit.
