By looking at the things around you and believing you should be happy as a result is not enough..
We live in a consumeristic/materialistic society with a capitalist agenda that places emphasis on the material over the spiritual (objects over happiness)..This is back-to-front and the truth is you will never find true happiness in the items you own..
When you learn to look inside and discover your true purpose.. Then will you find true happiness..
It took me to go on a journey abroad.. cut myself off completely from my friends and family.. and to learn to look at life with new eyes and a fresh perspective..
Not to see it as I've been trained to (read:: brainwashed)..We are here in servitude and our service to others is a service to ourselves..
Ultimately.. it's all love..
The world is built on it.. we live and thrive on it.. and it exists everywhere in all things..
Unconditional infinite everlasting love..I hope you find your true calling!!

An interesting exploration of the condition, especially as you're happy with most of the things many people in the world find are obstacles to happiness such as lack of control over their lives - hobbies were an excellent option for you to try but if you're still stuck how about regular social exercise? Depending on what sort of sports facilities you have nearby of course -- eg. join a running club/team sports/rock-climbing/triathlon/sailing/horse-riding/tennis -- not only for the endorphin rush but social aspects. Bertrand Russell prescribed horse-riding for the mathematician Wittgenstein so this isn't a new remedy, but it seems to work.

By being so honest with putting yourself in front of camera let's the rest of us understand that we're not so alone. This is a first step to communicating our feelings of depression therefore allowing us to relate to one another a lot more than we already do.

I don't understand how the transition is made from being in therapy and talking about the stress of constantly comparing yourself with others to handing out free junk to strangers...
The beginning of this pod was fantastic, the topic is relevant, but it seems like the conclusion is forced. I would like to have seen a more reflective conclusion that dealt with the issue of self acceptance (which seems to be the problem telling from the therapy session) rather than further involvement in the experience of others.

Winston Churchill suffered from "black dogs of depression". He would build walls in his garden...a bit like knitting really, making shapes and seeing the fruits of your labours.
