My husband just showed me your pod. He knew I'd be interested. I educate middle schoolers, who are deaf and hard of hearing. My good friend from work takes me out once in a while, and to my surprise most of her friends ask if I'm hard of hearing or a CODA. I love that compliment because, I walk away feeling great about my abilities to sign. (learned sign language in college).
Just a simple question... Do you think It's inappropriate for me to introduce myself to strangers who are deaf, just because I've noticed them signing in a public place?
I have a solid place in my heart for the Deaf community, and don't want to walk away and feel like my introduction was just a way to show off my signing capabilities. (i.e...like when a friend nudges me to sign to them because they know I'm able to). It's not always easy to keep in touch with everyone you meet.
Mainly, I don't want to be disrespectful or bothersome. Your advise would be greatly appreciated and respected. Thanks SMILE! - 2 years ago

Having no other CODA's to hang with i was able to feel like part of a secret gang watching this. Thank you! I did enjoy both versions. Maybe one could only use caption and no audio for a glimpse of deafness???

My cousin and her husband are deaf and they are raising three beautiful children that hear. I am sure they can relate to this video. I often see the struggles the children feel trying to be a part of two distinct cultures. Thank you for sharing this story. I will do the same...
