    • The sad thing is his mother and the rest of his family are still denying the seriousness of what Ryan's addiction to poker is going to do to ALL of them- even though his mother had him steal thousands, of dollars. They're STILL enabling him. He IS going to drag them down with him- and he WILL go down. Let him play with his 'pizza' money. He's behind on the rent. If the parents don't 'help'- and I use that word VERY loosely- pay his rent, he'll be on the street The only thing they, or anyone can do when a close loved one has an addiction is cut them loose. NO amount of love or good intentions will stop them– nor save them. It will ONLY hurt THEM. The ONLY was Ryan will stop is if HE WANTS to stop.

I'm a former junkie- Yup, my parents had to cut me out of their lives. If they didn't I'd probably have done ANYTHING to drain THEIR money. You just don't care about ANYTHING except YOU (I've been clean sine '03).

I'm a native NYC'er, and I'd wish there was a way I could talk to any of the Donnelly family, since they're in Brooklyn.

It sucks when your loved one is dangerous to you....

    • It doesn't look like he's going to recover anytime soon which is sad. Hopefully he can find some other outlet to get that rush he needs.

    • While Ryan is obviously over 20 and ultimately responsible for his condition, his mom is in such denial about her role in his ongoing addiction that it defies belief. She figures that playing at home "for just a little money, and he usually wins" is harmless. Yeah right, like shooting up a little smack with mom and dad is harmless, you idiot woman! Ryan is an addict, and you are his worst enabler. She buys him books and gives him telephone numbers to assuage her own guilt, not to help him. He steals her retirement investments, and she still gambles with him???? She deserves whatever she gets.
