My relationship with my parents is more casual than the relationship they had with theirs.

    • While I can appreciate your comments about a "casual" relationship with your parents. Also I believe, due to the "relaxed parent role" today, some parents play, kids are swearing, hitting, their parents at 10, and runnung them out the house. (Not happening with me!)

      However, I have two daughters 8 years apart, with the older one I was more firm. I tried the 'friend thing' with the younger one....later I regretted it. No real problems, but......?!

      It works in some cases, but a Parent has earned their Rights....they will have to wait their turn!

    • that would be nice to be able to talk with mine. my own relationship is casual also, but the communication barrier has yet to be breached. kudos to you though adreyess
