So where do these people work? There are thousands of companies who treat the employee use of cannabis outside of the workplace the same as employee alcohol use outside of work. Since alcohol contributes to over 100,000 deaths annually, it is ridiculous for an employer to discriminate against an individual based on their decision to a use a healthier alternative. Yet, many still do.
If there were no "pot friendly" jobs, the nation would no doubt be slowed to a crawl, with no one to teach our children, staff our hospitals, entertain us or build our highways. (Just to name a few) How is it that while cannabis remains illegal, it also remains in the top cash crops of the US? It is the resilience of the true spirit of America. We are not all sheep. Some of us would rather live our lives based on our own set of morals and beliefs than a set of morals and beliefs handed down by a government who enslaved blacks, committed genocide on Native Americans and uses the globe as its nuclear playground.
The trillion dollar toilet flush we call the war on drugs has been an obvious failure. We, as a people, have no other choice than to Outgrow Big Bro. We all need to stand up to and overcome the adversity imposed on us by Big Brother and society in general. This mockery of justice has gone on for so long, because people have long thought that legalization is just a "pot-head" issue. It's not. The positive effects that would spring forth from a legalization of cannabis for medicinal, recreational and industrial purposes would be unimaginable.
We could lower gas prices, create jobs, heal the sick and even save the trees. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that we could all get high, which is actually the least important factor. Remember? People do that already. So, one day we may live in a Utopian society, where all jobs are "pot friendly", but until then, we are still engaged in a struggle to free the weed.

The problem is....
There is too much "preaching to the choir".
What's the point of posting an opinion that matches the 100 postings before it. We're already convinced the war on drugs is bullshit!
Take the same effort and write to your congressman, start a petition, or start a peacefull protest (which is almost illegal now).
We can fix this!

delas78:
The point of posting opinions... where to begin? First of all, there's STRENGTH in numbers. The more people who agree with you and support your concepts, the more you feel that your opinion is valid and that maybe there really are causes that are worth standing up and fighting for. And, just as the number of signatures on a petition will directly affect the outcome of a protest, the Voices of the People will eventually be heard - and the more voices that cry out in unison, the louder the noise!
The free exchange of opinions also helps to clarify the minds of the undecided, and change the minds of others - even yourself - when new perspectives are introduced. It's called "The Court of Public Opinion" for good reason - and it's the only truly free and open court that we have! This court CAN and DOES affect legislation and the process of policy-making when used effectively. YES - by all means, write to your congressmen! Sign those petitions! You can do it online as easily as posting a comment on a website (like this one)... but this is a great place to start expressing yourself and clarifying your views BEFORE sending those letters to the White House...

Prohibition failed miserably. The so-called war on drugs is a bigger disaster. When will the gov't realize they can't dictate human behavior? They sure can't support the addictive use of alcohol & cigarettes enough for the tax base & population control though. But they're ignoring (i.e.-fast tracking Rxs for the enormous kick-backs that fill their political pockets) the most widespread & deadly drug problem of all-THE PHARMACEUDICAL INDUSTRY. The growing number of prescription related deaths & crimes is alarming-but not as alarming as the amount of money & resources being wasted on an issue that the gov’t is finally admitting to & aware of through state & voter pressure that cannabis law reform is long overdue.
Our judicial system is unnecessarily clogged with minor pot infractions & desperately needs to create the room needed for real criminals, so otherwise law abiding citizens and their families can begin to piece their lives back together. Hard drugs & alcohol are the real culprits undermining society & literally tearing families apart. When was the last time you heard about someone smoking a joint & then beating the hell out of his family or robbing the local mini-mart for their next fix? The country would be a far mellower place to live given all of the BS everyone has to put up with everyday in this once great country.
Our misguided gov't has its head so far up its ass, it has to open its mouth to see. The time of decriminalization/legalization of marijuana is here & now. 1930s discriminatory laws making pot illegal are just plain out-dated while current medical research & freedom of choice referendums clearly support an individual’s usage. How about following the rest of the world's lead & legalizing A WEED provided by Mother Nature-tax it & assign merchants-instead of intentionally holding it back from millions of users-recreational consumers & medicinal options for patients instead of Rxs.

let's see, the gov makes more money keeping it illegal by confiscating the proceeds and dealing it themselves. alcohol is proven to be much worse, but it takes a small fortune to make your own with specialized equipment. however, anyone can throw a seed in the ground and grow weed which is why the gov is hell bent on keeping it illegal despite all the benefits.

I really don't see what the big deal is with pot and why the government is so hell bent on keeping it illegal. Oh it destroys your brain cells, the government says. It doesnt destroy your body any faster than Vodka or Rum. Not being a smoker myself I do find that my friends who smoke are more mellow than the drinkers in our group or the clubs.
