It is said that a joke is 80% truth. But she wasn't joking when she made that comment about Community Organizers.
To the RNC, Community Organizers are the law enforcement agencies who happen to oversee those who make less that 5 million dollars a year AKA the middle class...

Community organizers do a great service for this country and for these politicians to attack these people shows just how little these politicians are concerned and know about tife in the communities they are supposedly serving. What a sorry statement this makes for the Republican party, and they wonder why people don't like Republicans.

while the community organizers may be upset they are missing the point, nobody put down community organizers they merely put down the fact that the mans only resume is being one. While it is great for a community it does not make you presidential material.

congrats on posting the most ignorant, uniformed comment on this thread. I hope you don't mind if I take you to school real quick....President of the Harvard Law Review....As an Illinois Senator he passed over 200 of the bills he wrote. These bills include:
1. A bill that expanded healthcare to over 100,000 people in Illinois.
2. A bill that set up community health centers to serve underserved populations.
3. A bill that provided the earned income tax credit to thousands of Illinois families.
4. A bill that reformed the death penalty that had sent innocent people to death row
5. A bill that banned gifts and meals from lobbyists.Send me a message if you would like some more.

People merely need to show up on the appropriate day and we fill boxes of food for them. We don't even ask them to prove they need it. We feel if they showed up that was proof enough, and let God take care of the details. Oh, and by the way it's CHINKY not CHUNKY, a little easier to spell. Thanks.

My misspelling was not intentional, and I am not anti-religious- only anti-bigot. I have no issues with people of faith. I simply choose to run with the "everyone" crowd, like many up here in the Colorado mountains. We look after eachother- like true Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and others do. I simply believe we have an inherent need and right and responsibility to care for eachother, faith or genetically based, or other. I don't thumb my nose at anyone's god. I do, however, make burritos for those who could use a meal tomorrow morning. It doesn't make me feel godly, but it makes me feel human. Is that selfish too much?

So being a state senator for 8 years and an U.S. senator for 3 years doesn't qualify you either? Based on this logic, John McCain isn't qualified to be President either. Community organizers help people register to vote, create after-school programs, help enforce safe and affordable housing and start job training programs. How does laying in a prison cell for 5 years qualify you to be President?

Obama has other qualifications besides being a community organizer. He is a U.S. senator, he was a state legislator and a constitutional lawyer. With that being said I do think that being community organizer is great experience. He was worked at the closest level with average and poor Americans. He didn't have a state or city budget or a party to get things done. There was a reason why the Obama campaign raised $8 million after Palin's punch lines and it is b/c they were ridiculous, over the top and out of touch.

I will vote for John McCain this election because it's not about any of the polititians or their bantering back and forth. Don't you all realize that this universe and everything in it is controlled by God? Nothing happens that hasn't already been OK'd by HIM first. We are merely players in HIS bigger picture. I for one agree with John McCain when he said we (should) serve a cause bigger than ourselves. If you in any way shape or form consider yourself to be one of the family of God, you will vote for John McCain. A man who much like Regan understands that we need God at the helm. Without HIS (God's) help this country is doomed no matter who is president.

McCain serves a higher power alright, corporate interest. He didn't even give a damn about your "God" until he got involved in politics. Republicans don't care about spirituality, they only care about getting votes and winning so that they can pass laws that deregulate corporate and media power for their friends and in return they get kickbacks. If you don't know any of this it means you have not done your homework, you are ignoring the facts or in other words you are ignorant.

I worked a suicide prevention hotline many years ago in college (I'm 50 now) and whether or not that would be considered community organizing I don't know. But now my kids are involved in food banks and checking in on our senior neighbors and providing services for the homeless. To hear Palin disparage people like my kids and by extension great folks like Jimmy Carter just shows that crowds' disdain for real Americans, real humans. We are simply more decent than that crowd, as we would never involve ideological or political beliefs while helping someone in need. And my kids don't need to be Christians, or Muslims or Jews to do so. They just need to be decent people- why is that so hard for others?

Senator McCain's once truly 'maverick' approach to nearly every major topic has been sacrificed on the altar of politics. As the Economist clearly stated, I would have much preferred McCain One to this current iteration of a once worthy and provocative politician.
The GOP may have just done the rest of us a favor in their attempt to adopt a "how-dare-anyone-question-our-definition-of-Patriotism" approach to Service as outlined by the despicably insensitive statements made by nearly all of the speakers this past week, most especially the denigrating remarks concerning Community Service, perhaps the most ubiquitous form of selfless service to others.
Perhaps this rather large constituency that includes those of us from all corners of our economic, social and cultural spectrum will take note, and take action, to defend their commitment to others by ensuring McCain-Palin gets no closer to the White House come 04 November.

I'm not offended by her remarks. I just find them revealing of her attitude that only the government can solve problems effectively. Personally, I think grass roots movements by motivated civilians are one of the best examples of democracy in action.
But to those for don't want democracy and who instead want to control Americans with an iron fist, like McCain and Palin, community service seems to be viewed as just another threat to their dream of re-making American into something that fits their personal vision regardless of what the people want.

Most of the help americans receive is from "community organizers". These are the people who make sue our elderly don't starve or freeze to death. They get kids off drugs and KEEP them off drugs. They build communities and keep them safe.
It is, arguably, THE most important job a regular citizen can perform.
The fact that it is belittled on national television by a leader of the ruling party is simultaneously sad and terrifying.
I know John McCain will win this election but the fact that his party is so openly and brazenly hypocritical and dishonest makes me angry at the "regular" folk for not stopping them
I see America turning to shit and no one is doing what is needed to save it.

I didn't say my feelings were hurt. I just said the Republican party totally contradicted their theme of service by making fun of Obama for performing the exact service they recommend everyone perform.
I understand the point - they were trying to make a talking point about Obama's lack of experience. They went on to lie and claim he wrote no legislation in the state ir national Senate, and also ignored his history as a civil lawyer and professor of constitutional law.
And to those who remark about maing fun of Palin's family, the Obama campaign never did this, so you can trash that argument.
All this party ever does is lie and contradict itself.

I do believe that most anyone who takes this comment as a slap in the face, is simply trying to make a story out of nothing. Listen I understand that if I was a community organizer and someone said to me that I do nothing of any importance, I would get offended. But, any person who follows politics and this election knows full well what those comments are aimed at.
It started when the Republicans start boasting about how much experience their candidate has, then the Democrats came out saying there candidate had a lot more experience then he is getting credit for. Upon questioning where this unrecorded experience came from the Dems boasted he has been a community organizer. The Dems then came out saying there candidate has more experience then Reps vice candidate, which was a slap in the face to anyone who has been a mayor. If you still do not understand then all I can say is, you found this web site use the resources of the internet and fact check the information on up to at least twenty five different resources then you will begin to see some of the light/information/truth that is daily washed in our world today.

Im pretty sure you got it wrong. The reason people are considering it a slap in the face is because the Republicans laughed about it, especially when Giulliani (spelling) spoke. Community organizers go out every day to help their area without a ton of funding, and are directly responsible.
Democrats are pointing at Palin's experience because the Republicans said Obama doesnt have any then McCain picks somebody that hasnt been in government very long and has only managed a small town, then recently a state.
By the way, you wanna talk about facts? Look up Palin's record, she didnt do much governing or mayoring (word?). Plus she cant even do what she preaches, in her town abstinence declined extremely as teen pregnancy sky rocketed. She was able to get millions of dollars in federal funding from the Federal Government, despite saying she was against it.

All of us- its called socializing the debt! All the while the halliburtons and big business had record income with lowered taxes - guess what this is called- privatizing the wealth!

Do any of you care who you are offending? From false allegations, to photo shopping nude pics of Sarah Pailn, to insulting people who are considering voting for McCain calling them idiots.
And in what way did Palin slap any of you across the face. She simply stated that Barack's service as a community Organizer didn't qualify him to be President. She did not say being a community organizer was a bad thing.
And don't be hypocritical. How about when Biden and Obama question her experience as being a mayor of only 6,000 people. I'm sure there are sensitive mayors out there saying "Oh my Gosh! Now that's just a slap in my face! Small town Mayors deserve more than to be insulted by the Democrats!

If what you are saying is actually true then you'd be right, however, from what I've watched I don't find that to be the case.
I find Palin's comments about community organizers derogatory and Obama's camp comments about her being a mayor related to their hypocrisy on the experience issue.
Now, I haven't watched all the clips, but that's what I've seen so far.
Although I do agree that this post is a little silly, I really doubt community organizers are really offended and if they are, so what? However, what she said about community organizers is pretty fucking retarded. Then again, what can you expect from the "hockey and PTA mom."
No offense, but what kind of fucking idiot does it take to be impressed by that? Do you know what you have to do to be in the PTA? Give five fucking dollars and maybe, occasionally, talk about what toilet paper the kids are using in school and bitch about sex education. Seriously, not impressive.
