    • Obama, beginning at 0:42:
"One of the reasons that I love Joe and one of the reasons that I think he's going to be such an effective Vice president is he's blunt when he's right and he's blunt when he's wrong. And that means that I can trust his council. And that's what I think a President needs from a Vice President."

McCain picked Palin in an effort to win this election, to appeal to the evangelical right, the far-right base of the Republican Party. Obama picked Biden in an effort to be a better president, to have experienced, forthright, and trustworthy council present when he makes important decisions.

    • Obama's choice of biden showed alot about his character and judgment. had he chose Clinton I'm sure he would've won this elections like yesterday but he choose not to go that route. Similarly McCain's choice of Palin shows a lot about McCain;s judgment and probalby the way he will govern. I will not speculate on who palin is or where she stands on issues untill she speaks for herself instead of campaign surrogate. then we'll know what she stands for and if indeed this was a good choice. in terms of governing.

Shame of American women? Wow. I don't see how that can be true. I would think the majority of American women would applaud her success - mayor, then governor, now VP candidate... not only that but she's done an awesome job too! What American woman finds shame in that?

    • Nah, definitely wasn't excusing it. You're right we shouldn't settle or accept anything from politicians just because its "typical." The thing I hate most about McCain is how he doesn't stand firm on his beliefs and opinions. I think its far better for someone to state what they believe in and stand firm on it - even if it means they don't win. At least you did the right thing. McCain seems to back off a little bit on certain things when he feels that people aren't agreeing with him. The problem with Obama is just that I don't believe in a thing that the man stands for.

That I think we excuse a little too much that our politicians do these days.
If that was true, I'd surely like to know more about what Biden.
"Typical politicians", I don't want a typical politician, or want to excuse bad behavior from one.
Just kind of felt like you were excusing it, like going back on your "beliefs" didn't mean anything.

    • It would be interesting to see who people would vote for if it was Biden vs Palin for President. I'm totally on the Palin bandwagon... I like her a lot more than McCain...and 100X more than Hilary or Obama.
