Palin: bad for America

Ms. Palin does not represent me as a woman living in the United States of America in 2008. She would not have in 1999 nor she would have represented my mother in 1970's but perhaps she would have been a perfect reflection of white women in the 1950's and therefore a perfect representative for them those generations ago where there was an unpopular war and people calling for real change, she would have been perfect then.
But we are not women of generations past, we are women of all shades of color living the embodiment of women who can call upon freedoms that no other country boasts.
We are the women of Gloria Steinem, we are the women of Susan Faludi and Eve Ensler. We hold our bodies and other women's choices with great respect and consider them not only private and personal but Holy in the face of government jurisdiction.
Alas we are NOT in the 1950's where, your gender, religion and the color of your skin mattered.
Or are we?
Where are the women for the fundamental right of choice? -They must be distracted, they must not know what Palin stands for politically and ethically.
I have become increasingly disturbed with not only Palin but the american people and the women who seem to be supporting her..."

If women were not going for Clinton because she is a woman then how is it that someone would speak to them "as a woman"? Confused on that.

WHERE WAS THE "SO CALLED CATHOLIC" WOMAN WHEN OBAMA TRASHED HILLARY IN THE PRIMARIES?
Obama mounted a sexist campaign against Hillary. Hillary only would campaign for Obama to pay off her campaign debt.
By calling this feminst pig calling herself a catholic is the same thing as putting lipstick on pig. Catholics are pro-life. If you support Obama, then you are not catholic.
The definition of a hyprocrite is a pro-abortion catholic. If you are pro-abortion then there are many churches to accommodate your discusting belief.
Rush, also has the same problem. Liberals call in claiming to be Republicans. It befuddles him, why a Liberal would masquerade as a Republican or a Catholic.
My theory as why Liberals pose as Republicans or Catholics is to gain acceptance. Moral people dismiss them once they identify themselvies as Liberals, because the tenets of Liberalism are repulsive.

Wow. I didn't know that ones' political choice could nullify their faith, or that YOU were the moral authority on people's beliefs.
Your vitriol holds no merit when your comments are illogical.

Politics30,
Thanks for your comment. While a compelling response, it remains a theological matter.
I did speak of my political opinion; relevant and relating to only current political issues. - 3 years ago

Ms ElandenRN,
You are right I DO NOT agree with Palin's positions in well, most of everything. Sarah Palin does not stand for women and women’s rights. Here's my point:
First and foremost, Sarah Palin's gender and her status as a mom does NOT count as a qualification to serve as vice President.
She's against reproductive choice.
“She opposes abortion even in the case of a child who has been raped or is a victim of incest. Her positions are so completely out of touch with the majority of American women.." said Eleanor Smeal, president of the Feminist Majority Foundation.
Palin, alongside McCain wants to overturn Roe V. Wade.Under her Governance in Alaska she cut city funds for rape kits, something I find outrageous and morally objectionable.
She and McCain are against Equal Pay For Equal Work.Regarding education, she believes the “No Child Left Behind” program is working. When all education experts and any school teacher will tell you it is NOT.
She believes in creationism "As a candidate for governor, Sarah Palin called for teaching creationism alongside evolution in public schools. "
Regarding creationism and pro-life issues, having a strong religious belief system is NOT the objection here but the idea that your beliefs could become law IS the innate problem. We live, as you have mentioned, in a free society, where, all types of Christians, Muslims, Jews and Buddhists, to mention a few religions, live alongside each other and differ in their most fundamental beliefs in God and how we should life our lives. We have to work towards a society that allows all visions of truths to be seen through the spectrum of tolerance and inherited respect for our differences. What Palin stands for and talks about with passion is a contradiction to these ideals and the foundation of TRUE freedom for ALL.
But please do not take my word for it:
The chair of NOW's Political Action Committee said: "I am frequently asked whether NOW supports women candidates just because they are women. This gives me an opportunity to once again answer that question with an emphatic 'No.' We recognize the importance of having women's rights supporters at every level but, like Sarah Palin, not every woman supports women's rights."
"But women should not vote based on one issue. There are more issues and choices for women to make than just considering “pro-life” or “pro-choice.”

On the other hand, It is gratifying to see that you are enjoying the freedoms that the feminist movement and it's struggles has endowed upon us all American women.

I am married and a mother of two and I think she would be an asset. I work and I am a good mother. She is not afraid to speak her mind, you may not agree with everything she says and you don't have too. That is what this country is about-----freedom. I am able to work, where I have tremendous responsiblity, take care of my children/family and in a respectful way stand up for what I believe in. I can dress in a $500 dress and attend a black tie function tonight and tomorrow I can have jeans and boots on riding a four wheeler in the mud or hunting with my dad. I am respected in both situations because I do not look down on other people or judge them for what they believe in. If you keep your feet on the ground and remember that you have morals, you are capable of doing anything. I am not judged by either group because they know who I am and what kind of person I am.
