The thing that frightens me the most are the "dedicated Democrats/Republicans" who vote by party affiliation - not selecting by researching and evaluating !! I live in a very complacent city and many people here do not look at both sides. They go by whatever party they are in or what someone else tells them from their party, what is on a billboard they see on their way to and from work, or what they hear in the news, which is slanted depending on who is reporting it, a Dem or Rep.
Much of voting public does not put in the time to research the candidates, or issues themselves. I dont think they really weigh each candidate by what they will bring to the table and then make an informed vote. This really has to be done with an open mind too, which can be very hard to do. People many times even do the research even if their minds are already made up and usually it is by what their political party, their teachers, professors, family members, or friends tells them.
I am an independent for these reasons. So researching the politician and the issues is important to me so I can try to get as close to the truth as I can.
There are so many rumors told during election time, so study and get to the truth yourself. We have so many resources at our fingertips these days. You won't get an unbiased truth from the "Media". They need ratings and the dirtier the rumor the more the viewers.
Why do we need teams, aka Dem/Rep/Lib, anyway? Government is not a team sport.... it's us, the people and our beloved country...
I would love to read your input ... Thanx!

John McCain is trying to sell himself as a "maverick" and a "straight talker" who will tell the truth no matter the consequences, but independent, non-partisan watchdog groups aren't buying it. But, since he wrapped up his party's nomination, John McCain has offered more of the same false attacks and smears.
