For nearly a year, he ignored letters from his Beacon Woods homeowners' association and a court order because, he said, he barely had the money to pay his mortgage.
He was trying to keep his house and didn't care about the lawn.
This article is about some people that went out of their way to help Prudente with this problem.

Homeowners Associations are always such A-holes. They tell other people what to do with their property just so they can up their own property values.

Michigan is no exception
A Michigan law states that a wife's hair legally belongs to her husband.
• A woman isn't allowed to cut her own hair without her husband's permission.
• Any person over the age of 12 may have a license for a handgun as long as he/she has not been convicted of a felony.
• In Clawson, Mich., there is a law that makes it LEGAL for a farmer to sleep with his pigs, cows, horses, goats, and chickens.
• In Detroit, couples are not allowed to make love in an automobile unless the act takes place while the vehicle is parked on the couple's own property.
• In Detroit, Michigan it is illegal to sleep in a bathtub.
• In Rochester, Michigan, anyone bathing in public must have his or her bathing suit inspected by a police officer.
• It is legal for a robber to file a law suit, if he or she got hurt in your house.
• It is illegal to loiter in the city morgue in Detroit.
• It's illegal in Michigan for a person under the age of 21 to give a gift of alcohol beverage to anyone, even to a person of legal age.
• Permitting diners to take home an unfinished bottle of alcohol beverage, rather than consuming it all before leaving to prevent "waste," encourages moderation and discourages intoxication. However, this is prohibited in Michigan.
• Smoking while in bed is illegal.
• The use of the names of dead presidents to sell alcohol in Michigan is prohibited.
• Under an 1889 law, the health officer of East Jordan, Mich., could send any nonresident with an infectious disease back to where he came from, as long as the person could travel. If not, the officer could rent a house for use as a pest house. [/size]if i rob you and get hurt im suing!!!!!!!!!

As real as it may seem, in some cities cutting your grass is serious....just as serious as these laws we have in New Orleans.
IT IS ILLEGAL TO TIE AN ALLIGATOR TO A FIRE HYDRANT.
$500 FINE FOR SENDING THE PIZZA MAN TO YOUR FRIEND'S HOUSE WITHOUT YOUR FRIEND KNOWING.
THEFT OF CRAWFISH: ILLEGAL
HE/SHE WHO ROBS A BANK MAY NOT SHOOT AT THE TELLER WITH A WATER GUN.
And if you become familar with KENNER...
NO SPITTING IN PUBLIC.
YOU MUST MAKE USE OF A SIDEWALK WHERE IT IS PROVIDED; YOU CAN GET A TICKET IF YOU DO NOT ABIDE.
A DRIVER IS NOT ALLOWED TO USE HIS/HER HORN UNLESS IT IS AN EMERGENCY.

not really nonsense...(by today's standards yes) but you have to remember when these laws were written too. the water gun thing is just retarded. but the crawfish thing makes sense because craw fish was a BIG deal in Louisiana

From what I hear there is a guy in california that is using a non harmful green dye to spray lawns helping to sell forclosed homes. He made a million dollars in a few months doing it. I have a feeling it will be hitting the east coast soon.

What stupid jerks they are. There are more important offenses going on to be rallied behind than someone who doesn't have green grass on the lawn they are paying for(or trying to pay for because of the housing market crisis). As if he wasn't having a hard enough time worrying about keeping his home, he has to deal with those jerks who want him arrested for his lawn.
Some people just need better things to do with their lives.

The next great battle over scarce resources will be for fresh water. It won't be too many years before it will be illegal to waste a prescious resource like fresh, potable water on such foolishness as a green lawn.

Laws like these remind me of those ridiculous laws like its illegal to wash your elephant on a San Fransisco street past 3 pm. Leave the guy and his brown lawn alone, unless you want to help him pay his mortgage bills and give him a little more free time.

Grandpa gone wild indeed. they should be thankful his lawn is brown instead of green from a bunch of damaging hurricanes. you really cant blame the subdivision people though i mean they clearly have no lives so they came up with a problem to keep themselves busy.

What kind of shitty world is there in Florida where a home owner's association have the power to lock someone up?
Is Florida the land of the insane?
I'm glad this guys neighbors stepped in. But that isn't the point. The point is that he didn't really OWN HIS OWN HOUSE! Screw these petty thugs in their small minded ways.

Great story. I think its a really sad day when someone is jailed for having brown grass when world poverty still exists. It's amazing that it took a complete stranger to step in, when the association had the same capacity to do just the same. Perhaps a humanity board needs be put in place. While preserving a neighborhoods green integrity is important, I would think a mans quality of life is worth noting.

that's just crazy,
I have a friend who plans on removing all the grass from his lawn when he gets a house and replace it with nails spray painted green. I think this guy should consider that.

No surprise that is here in FL. Homeowners associations are nazis.
There is a drought, and the water bills have increased. I don't blame the man for a brown lawn and in the before pics, it actually isn't that bad.
