Why Should They Care

This is the most vital election in America's history. There are so many things that hang in the balance. The significance goes much deeper than some of the personal issues that so many quibble over. It is not about whether you are a republican or a democrat. Right now the entire world is holding their breath as to the outcome of what we do in this election. There is an extreme build up of energy and tension that is soon to be set free on a global scale. The direction this energy will take us (the human race) is why this election is so important. So many things are intertwined across the globe in such a way that we are no longer impacting only our selves with our choices.

We have two choices in candidates to pick from. They both have distinct differences in their perceptions, desires, and focus of purpose. McCain is of the nature to war first and use diplomacy second; just look at his and Sarah Palin’s response to the attack on Georgia. If we would have attacked Russia as they had implied that we should, Palin would have seen missiles rather than Putin’s head launched over her 40 mile stretch of Bering Strait into Alaska. War mongering is not the mentality we want to continue to spew into the world as a nation.

Diplomacy is extremely vital at this point in the journey of humankind as world tensions are mounting. Barack Obama is of the nature to use diplomacy first and then use military force as a last resort. This is not a weakness as some would like to imply. Look back at President Kennedy’s response to the Cuban missile crisis. If McCain and Palin would have been in power at that time, just imagine how different the world would be now! Please note that Obama will not hesitate to use military force if the situation is warranted.

The rest of the world recognizes these distinct differences between Obama and McCain. It is time for more Americans to see this difference as well. There are an increasing number of staunch republican politicians voicing their support for Barack Obama such as Colin Powell, Scott McClellan, and Chris Buckley. They are realizing that this country needs a change and it is not the one that McCain and Palin will bring. They will bring a change but let’s not go there. Vote Barack Obama and Joe Biden into office and the bulk of the world community will get behind us in making the world a safer, greener, and more stable place. Our economy and the rest of the world economies will once again become stable as well.

    • I'm actually not an obama supporter either, but it's obvious that he'll win if the republicraps don't rig it.
please don't call me a politician-supporter... is a republifascist's best argument to just call you "liberal"?

Be sure to take Alec Baldwin with you. He should just about have his bags packed by now...he*s been working on that *leaving the country* thing since 2004.

    • Julius My parents were staunch Democrats Mom a Kennedy DEM. Dad a FDR. DEM. In 1968 when Nixon ran for office i was 6 years old. My parents let me stay up to see who won. They knew I wanted Nixon, but, they were surprised when he won. In 1971 shortly before his historic China trip I drew him a picture of a Chinese person , being 7 and not very PC. I called him a China man. I mailed with a long letter. I waited watching the news everynight about his groundbreaking trip. It was here when my parents sdia you choose a good man fof President, I felt proud. A couple of days later I got a letter from Nixon, not hand written, Just the white house book with the story of Nixon. I was really proud when I found out he was in WW2 , and ..he was born in California just like me. When Watergate went down, I watched the Partisan Democrats on TV everyday trying to tear him down, of course he wasn't at the hearings, but they succeeded.I didn't see that much wrong with what he did, still don't. But, I still hate those Democrats for what they did. When Reagan ran I was a Senior in High school. I was 18 and planned on voting for him. Being a teenager I didn't realize I had to register, whoops. In 1984 I made up for it. I met Bush 41 voted for him, Bob Dole and I are on the front of our town paper holding up my first political t shirt (THE CLINTON TEA SHIRT) I voted for W twice and would do it again. I am not only a loyal Republican I am a Proud one. Call me an IGNORANT SOB, but don't ever say I am a closet Democrat. .LOL

If you saw nothing wrong with Nixon's actions which led to the Watergate scandal, it's hardly surprising you approve of George W. Bush's illegal eavesdropping polices too.

Thank you Nobama again you are right on track! Amazing! Like you, I too was born and grew up in So Cal, but when I was six years old I remember first learning about our current president and that was Eisenhower. LOL! My parents were also Democrats, which they later wished they had registered Republican at the time of Nixon but started voting Republican anyway, which I found out after I had already voted for Nixon. They were great in that they never tried to sway my voting in any way.

My first vote was for Nixon in my first year of college. I think he was a good president.. but was caught doing what a lot of politicians before him have done including democrats..He finally got us out of the Vietnam War, which democrat Kennedy got us in and dem-Johnson kept us in because it was coating his pockets w/ beaucoup $$$s. "Drafted" (I say drafted because our present military is an all voluntary army ... meaning it a persons choice to join the military to defend our freedoms in America and not the presidents fault that they decide to go to war to fight), so "drafted" young soldiers were losing their lives fighting the Communist China backed VietCong and to drugs (which were supplied in part by the communists) in a war that was fought supposedly to stop the spread of communism so we can remain a free country, but to also line (D)-Johnson's and others pockets w/ $$$$s. The war was finally ended by Nixon while he was in office. I saw the likes of Jane Fonda, John Kerry, and others defile our "drafted" soldiers and act as traitors to our people. They're the ones who should have been imprisoned, and their US citizenship revoked. Our "drafted" soldiers were spit on, urine was thrown on them, etc when they returned to their/our country that they were "drafted" to defend whether they wanted to go fight in Vietnam or not, thanks to Fonda, Kerry, etc. I know this because even members of my own family and friends were "drafted" and fought for a cause our democrat presidents put us in and they thought they were helping our country and peoples keep our freedoms! More than I like to think of lost their lives...Unfortunately, for us, Nixon was convicted and impeached (as was Clinton for his unsavory dealings in Whitewater) and fired as president because he was caught doing pretty much what many of our past and present politicians do when campaigning. That too is the first time I heard Biden (so I have been following his career for quite some time, too and am not secure in that he will be good for our country as VP).

I have a friend who was the speechwriter for five of our presidents, Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and daddy Bush and has known Clinton, Kennedy's JFK~Robert~Ted, Carter and many, many others on personal levels, even danced w/ the queen of England. What a great man! .. He has many books out too.

    • Katanajon:

I have never voted a democrat president into office and not for any other reason except that I felt they didnt measure up. I appears that I have been right too! In my lifetime, what i have seen is that they have done nothing but damage our country .... Shoot! Look at Carter then Clinton ~~~ they and their CRA have put us in the recession/depression financial situation we are in now! Research it people... The facts are there!! Sure, more people "owned" houses than they would have otherwise, but because of that more are foreclosed on! Remember the outrageous interest rates with Carter? (sure he is a great humantarian now) but he and Rosalyn were not good leaders w/ some very bad decisions. Clinton was fortunate he had Reagan and Bush 1 before his administration came to power, because he count then cash in and ride their coattails to make it look like he got out of office w/ a surplus but actually when he got out of office gas prices were starting to rise (at $1.41 then), we were beginning a recession, besides he had Obama a few times and let him get away to set us up for an attack on our own soil! Then he allowed the genocide of thousands of Rowandans when they asked for help too, and then thousands of Bosnians before he finally reluctantly stepped in to stop the murders.

I am thankful Bush was in office when we were attacked at the WTC, or we most likely would have been attacked again ... But, thanks to GW, we havent in these past 8 years... but it seems many dont even consider that.

Also, it seems people forget that Saddam Hussein was a monster committing atrocities to his own people, and also housed Al Quaida, WMDs (ask soldiers who were there at the beginning of the war). These were smuggled out at the beginning of the war underground to Syria, or hidden like Saddam Hussein and his family and cronies were when we came in there. They forget that when Saddam had invaded Kuwait, they asked for our help and then when we left without liberating Iraq too, the Iraqi people were disappointed. When we went into Iraq they were frightened that we would leave w/out liberating them this time. I think when we got Saddam we won the war but we stayed to to secure the country from any more tyrants coming in to take over in their weakened condition as they Iraqis wanted and to help them bring democracy to themselves too.

I also have lived in countries that America has helped to bring democracy and rebuild in both Europe and Asia. We dont take over a country, we help them bring democracy if they want it.

I think both parties have lost what they used to be. I dont believe in too much government because it takes away freedoms that we are entitled to in our constitution and that were intended by our forefathers that fought for a free country such as we have. I vote for who I think will keep less government control except where needed. I think welfare makes too many capable people lazy, instead of just helping them get back on their feet. It was never intended for that. I think we should have government (the people) help take care of the handicapped, disabled though. But when government starts controlling everything, it becomes very unfair and very high taxes!

It seems we are taxed on everything anyway. On our gas, phone, cell phones, sales, property, it seems like so many taxes for us to pay!!!! And then State Taxes and high Federal Taxes coming from the Obama camp on businesses too ... The sad thing is we are one of the highest taxed countries in relation to businesses. Business are the ones who help us stay independent in giving us jobs and earning money so overtaxing them seems pretty redundant and also sends many of our jobs overseas, outsourcing, which actually came into play w/ the Clinton administration.

    • This is not a matter of being chicken it is more of a matter of being intelligent. Since Russia is approximately 40 miles away from Sarah Palin's house, it would not take all that many missiles to do the damage needed to destroy this country or theirs. Our missiles have the capacity to reach any where within Russia's borders and they can reach any where within ours. If either missile launched happens to be nuclear the results would be catastrophic. It would take only one. Diplomacy can go along way if done properly.

Yes Julius, I agree with you. Diplomacy is always the best and first choice. Another thing to keep in mind is even if both the US. and Russia have less misiles than 20 years ago. The new ones are far more deadly. With multiple warheads per missile and much larger payloads. It would only take a few getting through to their targets to really cripple either country.

    • Correction, the world is a much more dangerous place than it was 60 years ago. Russia has less missiles than they did 20 years ago. And, it is alright to be chicken, that is what our leaders and army are for. You just sit back and blog, let the warriors protect us.

    • First off, Hitler was an exception to the rule. Not many leaders have been or will be like him. Also the world is a much different place than it was back in the day of Hitler. This is the nuclear age which changes the whole game of war. Technologies have changed so dramatically that to start a war against Russia would be essentially insane. Especially since they are so near to our country.

Diplomacy is a tremendous gift if you have it and if you know how to use it. Some leaders do and some don't. As we all know there are some that are complete morons. I won't mention any names but I think we all know who I mean.

All countries contemplating an engagement or confrontation have to weigh out their odds of success and the extent of casualties they would incur. I am not only thinking of soldiers in the battle field. This is why we need someone in office who is not prone to saber rattling and or shoot first and ask questions later. There is way to much at stake.

One must understand diplomacy to value it.

Diplomacy is a wonderful thing. And should always be the first road to go down. But keep in mind, when at the negotiating table you have to be able to back up what you say. And command respect from your opponent. A strong military is required as a show of force. To make your opponent think twice before leaving the table with war in mind.

Diplomacy is a wonderful thing when it works and it has been and should always be tried first before an attack (unless we are attacked on our own soil .... WTC, almost the pentagon, etc) .

Talking about Hitler being an exception to the rule, what about Japan and Emperor Hirohito in WWII and the atrocities Japan has carried out in Korea and throughout Asia through the centuries http://tinyurl.com/rtn34 ? What about the dictators and atrocities in Africa? South Africa and the Marxist ANC~ Mandela's bloody path to power http://tinyurl.com/3wgfu (Russia sponsored)? What about Russia and their atrocities to their own citizens and satellite countries in the past and present? The atrocities of Atheism (which goes hand in hand w/ communism) and throughout our 20th century and still presently http://tinyurl.com/64xsf8 . The atrocities of Saddam Hussein, Muslims? Atrocities against women in Muslims countries? Idi Amin Dada, Africa's "Hitler" http://tinyurl.com/573ps? Rowanda? Communist China's atrocities ? Socialism atrocities http://tinyurl.com/5lnv49 ? I can go on and on about Hitler being an exception . I have added research sites and there are many, many more.

Also, please tell me a country using mostly or totally a socialist system, (while the concept appears good), that really works. Our country really has not seen atrocities as are witnessed throughout the world, even today.

O, and BTW, didnt we use a NUCLEAR bomb on Hiroshima to end Japanese atrocities?

Also in my second sentence I indicated that there are others but not so many. "Not many leaders have been or will be like him." My main point which is what I think you missed is that the world is more complicated now than it was then based on technology. Diplomacy is even more crucial than before based on the scale of global risk.

    • Diplomacy only works with week country's. Nevil Chamberlain found that out after kissing Hitlers butt. Of course he just gave Adolf Poland, a small price to avoid war. Russia only responds to strength. Were you guys born yesterday? Global leader sounds better than Global ass kisser.

    • Katanajon:

You are confusing appeasement with diplomacy.

Appeasement was the policy England chose, under Neville Chamberlain, to pursue in diplomatic relations with Nazi Germany. The premise of the appeasement policy was that if western European nations including England allowed Germany to invade eastern European nations like Poland, Germany would leave its western neighbors alone. Obviously this policy failed.

Diplomacy is a much broader term which includes all communications between nations, whether those nations are allies, neutral, or enemies.

Diplomacy on the parts of both U.S. and Soviet leaders, along with the Gorbachev policies of glasnost and perestroika, led to the end of both the "Cold War" and Communist Party rule in the former Soviet Union and its dissolution into formerly, and now again, independent nations.

Diplomacy was also the method by which the United States under former President George H.W. Bush built a coalition of over a dozen nations, including our allies Canada and the United Kingdom (England), to repel the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait during the 1990-1991 Gulf War.

And diplomacy helped bring an end to the former South African policy of apartheid, when nations around the world, including the United States, exerted diplomatic pressure on the former government of South Africa in order to convince the then all-white government to extend voting and other civil rights to the black majority of South Africa's population.

Dumbama talks about going in and bombing Pakistan ... that's not diplomacy. Bush used everything he could before going into Iraq but when diplomacy and talking didnt work anymore w/ Saddam Hussein we attacked (which our liberal media wont publish, was hiding WMDs and Al Quaida & operatives that were smuggled underground to Syria...ask soldiers that were there in the beginning.). Bush has used diplomacy w/ North Korea and Iran and other countries until they don't back down w/ their nuclear threats and lies about it. Look at the total picture from all sides not just the liberal one or what your liberal socialist professors have brainwashed into you. We are such a junction to lose the America that our forefathers intended us to be ~~~ FREE and STRONG with each citizen being allowed the freedom of FREE SPEECH, the RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, the RIGHT TO VOTE, etc!!

We need this team of Barack and Joe,with all the turmoil that is going on in this world. We will have Obama's cool head and brillance and Joes worldly manner and a good team player.
