    • ..nephwrack, i totally understand where you are coming from. the right to see a loved one in a hospital, the right to equal access to health care..those are very important to me, and i know they're important to you. there has to be another way around this then to bash any church for it's support in prop 8. we need to find common ground, where both parties are satisfied.

..although you weren't holding any sign of that sort, there were many that did have signs of hate toward the LDS church, which to me doesn't seem fair. i do not believe in hate, i love everyone, and see all through their potential as human beings and as children of God, something the church has taught me.

..honestly, a better way to bring peace is to sit both sides of this proposition down, and find common ground. one in which the "LGBT" community recieve their rights, and *traditional marriage* between a man and a woman. i think, in fact i know, there was confusion on both sides, both had misleading commercials and advertisings. but we all need to be adults and talk it out. these protests, have spread throughout the country to innocent people who had no vote in the california passing of prop 8.

..i support prop 8 on the terms of marriage between a man and a woman. that without eachother, mankind would not and could not exsist. i respect those who have voted against prop 8, and their fight for equality.
i really hope and pray that we can find common ground. i want equality for all, i also want *traditional* marriage to be between man and woman!

..there has to be another way!

    • The founding fathers stated that our constitution will only work for a "pure and virtuous" people. I cant see any homosexual act as being defined as pure and virtuous based on any biblical or dictionary definition. Our nation is being destroyed by floods, hurricaines, and economic crisis because people are choosing to live evil lives and do whatever they want to. Its hard for me to believe people are protesting for gay rights while they witness Gods judgements against the U.S.A. As a medical doctor it makes me wonder if they are not blind because it sure seems to be so. Wake up America!

    • I stand by my opinion that prop 8 is a thinly veiled hate crime. it singles out one group of individuals and targets them with discriminatory policy. spin this any way you want to but at it's core prop 8 is not about love as the proponents of it say, it's about preventing a select group of individuals from attaining equal rights. nowhere in the constitution of the US does it say "except LGBT people."

if homosexuality is so abhorrent to the LDS they should keep it to themselves, rather than try to push their opinions on the law of the land. the same goes for any and all churches that donated to that miserable excuse for a law. oh and i never held any threatening signs like the ones you spoke of ,rooted5, i beleive in equality and peace, not divisiveness and hate.

nowhere in the bill were ANY churches asked to recognise the civil unions that it covered. the bill was about compassion and equality. all they wanted were equal rights. the right to see a dying loved one in the hospital, equal access to health care, etc. nowhere in the bill was any mention made of educating children on the gay lifestyle. i heard so many unbeleivable lies spouted by yes on 8 people. one of my favorites was "prop 8 will lead to bigger government" i mean, really?

    • first of all, the LDS church DID not fund or donate the money. Tax paying members of the church, who are also citizens of the United States, donated from their own pockets just as ellen degenres dontated her money . So the arguement should not apply to the LDS church nor its tax-exempts. second, the church did not take away any rights! proposition 8 was placed on the California ballot, where californians voted..TWICE..to *restore* traditional marriage between a man and a woman. oh, and the LDS church was not the only church or religion who endorsed a yes on 8 vote. California residents have spoken, now the opponents are upset?? i don't see mccain and palin outside of the white house demanding a change of votes. the people have clearly made a choice.

..*sidebar* the temple is a sacred place, where one goes to feel peace. my grandfather contributed in the building of the Los Angeles temple, on the walls and on the entrance of the temple reads * House of the Lord *. * Holiness to the Lord *..the temple and the grounds which surround the temple, were dedicated by a prophet of God. The Spirit that one feels once within the gates is indescribable. I invite each of you who read this post, to go to your nearest LDS temple, and walk around..it truly is a lovely place. one quite opposite of the scene which sign carrying protestors created.

..charged with hate crimes?? i think the ones that should be charged with hate crimes are the ones outside with their signs, which turned from *no on prop 8* to *all mormons go to hell*..go on lds.org, if you find one item of hate toward any group, let me know. until then, stop blaming the innocent.

    • The LDS church has not done more than encourage participation in the legal process. Members of the church have donated cash and energy to a cause they believe in. No claims against their tax exempt status will stand since individuals have the right to make proper contributions however they will. Why go anarchist with intimidation and worse against engaged voters?

what does anarchism have to do with the intimidation of voters? please enlighten me. if you want to talk about the intimidation of voters what about the allegations that the yes on 8 people sent letters to the donors for no on 8, demanding an equal donation to yes on 8, or that the yes on 8 people would publish a list of known no on 8 voters? sounds like voter intimidation to me. keep church out of my government. i have no wish for us to see another dark age.

    • JESUS WAS GAY!
God does discriminate against gays, Man does. If you look at the first bible, there was no discrination in the King James version. The word Homosexual was first put in the Bible in 1869- this is way before anyone who is currently living now. They discriminated against Jesus because he was GAy. His lover was Thomas, one of his disciples. The world didn't tell you why the crucified him on the cross(early discimination), because they didn't believe the son of God could be Gay. That is why they took the Gospel of Thomas out of the Bible. In the "Last Supper" the disciple laying on his bossom, was Thomas, as it says in the Bible, His Lover, the one Jesus loved. The Gospel of Thomas revealed the andrynous behavior of Jesus, and How God gave these qualities to all. Go to any bookstore, and look up the "Missing Gospel of Thomas." This was taken out of the Bible as a sort of Butterfly affect, to keep people from know what the end would look like. God says in the Bible, you know when God is coming back...when you see the rainbow. Guess what, it's not a coincidence that gays and lesbians represent the rainbow.

    • if the mormon hatemongers insist on meddling in politics they should lose their tax exempt status. not only that but they should be charged with hate crimes.
