Eye-witness account by member of Christian group VICTIM OF HATE CRIME

I went to the Castro District like we usually do on Friday nights.

Normally, we sit on 18th and Castro, and someone plays the guitar, and we all worship God.

Sometimes a person will yell at us, or maybe a few. Sometimes people will ignore us. Sometimes people will let us pray with them.

This time was not a normal night. It was the first time we'd been back in the Castro to do our normal outreach since California Proposition 8, which defined marriage as 'one man with one woman,' was passed. We played the guitar and sang together and worshiped the Lord. After just singing and worshiping God for a while, Roger decided that we should all hold hands in a circle and continue singing. So we did

Then some guy who was dressed up like one of the sisters — The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is a group of men who dress up like nuns and call themselves the spiritual authority of the Castro, took a curtain-type thing (Which I think they use to curse people) and wrapped it around us.

Then a crowd started gathering. We began to sing "Amazing Grace,"and basically sang that song the whole night. At first, they just shouted at us, using crude, rude, and foul language and calling us names like 'haters' and 'bigots' Then, they started throwing hot coffee, soda and alcohol on us and spitting (and maybe even peeing) on us.

Then, a group of guys surrounded us with whistles, and blasted them inches away from our ears continually. Then, they started getting violent and started shoving us. At one point a man tried to steal one of our Bibles. Chrisdene noticed, so she walked up to him and said, 'Hey, that;s not yours, can you please give it back?' He responded by hitting her on the head with the Bible, shoving her to the ground, and kicking her. I called the cops, and when they got there, they pulled her out of the circle and asked her if she wanted to press charges. She said, 'No, tell him I forgive him.' Afterwards, she didn't rejoin us in the circle, but she made friends with one of the people in the crowd, and really connected heart to heart.

Roger got death threats. As the leader of our group, people looked him in the eyes and said, "I am going to kill you,"and they were serious. A cop heard one of them, and confronted him. It wasn't long before the violence turned to perversion. They were touching and grabbing me, and trying to shove things in my butt, and even trying to take off my pants - basically trying to molest me. I used one hand to hold my pants up, while I used the other arm to hold one of the girls. The guys huddled around all the girls, and protected them. Soon after, the cops came and stood between us and the mob.

Probably half our team got their jackets stolen. Eventually, as the crowd was getting more and more uncontrollable, the cops were afraid for our lives, so they escorted us to our van. (The cops were very nice to us from start to finish.) Our van was parked pretty far [away] because it was hard to find parking that day. As the cops escorted us, the mob followed us, until the cops formed a line and held off the people so we could drive away.

We took the long way home, just in case anyone tried to follow us. When we got home, we prayed and sang more, and then prayed over each other. Please know my heart. All of what we do is for the Love of Jesus Christ, and the love for those in the Castro. The Bible says to love God, and then love people. We can only love because He loved us first. We can’t hate the people because they are just broken and blinded by the spirit of this age. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against Principalities and Powers. It's not a political thing, we just love the people. This is the raw footage of the walk from 18th and Castro Street to our car. It was only the very tail end of the night.

    • Jesus was obviously GAY.

All that drama when Peter denied knowing him...

Not to mention that night he was on his knees in the park washing men's feet with his skirt hitched up around his waist.

"Take, Eat, This is my Body"
That's what he used to tell all the guys, until he met John The Beloved.

And he DID kiss Judas before hanging out with Thaddeus.

"I am a Fisher of Men," he would say gaily.

      "Come, Follow Me"

"I have the Perfect Body and I can turn Water into Wine!"

"This isn't a baguette in your face, it's Fish! Pure and simple."

"My soul-mate is a prostitute named Mary, just like Mum!"

"It isn't that which goes into a man that makes him unclean, it's what comes out of him!"

Anyone who thinks Jesus wasn't gay, has never known a gay man.

So any ways with that being said don't worry the gays will not be here much longer because they will simply... well... DIE! And when you’re just wasting all your seed that makes more of your kind instead of making it prosper like you should you will just DIE and be gone, gone, gone!

Nothing you listed is spoken by Jesus and nothing you referenced is relating to gay men and women. You are so typical of "christians" who can quote random verses from the bible and make them apply to anything.

At the end of the day USA is not a Christian state. It does NOT have a national religion. This is NOT a Theocracy. So the government as no place in deciding on the rights of any group of people based on religious edicts of any faith system. If you believe that being born gay is a wrong by your religion, great! have at that perspective it is your right. But you cannot allow someone's rights to be taken away based on them, including yours. This is anti-American and anti-constitutional law.

Her is what gets me about right wing people and others who or so against gay people and gay marriage. It is such a big deal why doesn't Jesus address the issue? But he does address divorce (there is none), money changers in church (there are plenty in the church), politics in the church (no place for it), and a whole list of other things, but these are not highlighted but the gays are. If Jesus was here and even if he was against homosexuality he would not be on the side of the side of most visceral comments you see on TV and internet toward gay people. You know he wouldn't. He loved all and made room for all and said, " a bruised reed, I will not break." In other words he will not more burden to those already burden by life's circumstances. He would eat, laugh, cry, console, and be there for gay people. This what I do not see from the religion that says it reflect Christ. There is no love for the people. There is no attitude that we love you and are there for you and invite as human beings into our lives, hearts, and will not raise a fist to you.

There is NO condemnation in Christ! You who have a plank in our eye how can you remove the speck in someone else's. Such christian arrogance! Try honest love it is a good remedy for all things.

You are such a homophobe it makes me think you really need to come out of the closet. Someone with this much homo anxiety needs to embrace their inner homo.

    • soleil way to go man, idk about your other posts but this site is very very far left on this topic and its kinda of out of hand, really a pain. theres a reason prop 8 is in what 29 states now? that would be because the majority of people don't agree with this 'gay-agenda' that everyone seems to have, but clearly it isnt everyone. this type of stuff needs to get out, the pushiest, most annoying, blatantly disrespectful group next to inner city hoodlums i can recall is either the KKK and black panther type groups or the gays!

It's because we're not talking about an outlook or worldview. We're talking about a personal trait that people are born with/ grow up with.
Last time I checked, straight people aren't gay.
Unless they keep an open mind, and look at things from another's perspective, how can they have an informed opinion of something they are ignorant of, much less judge it...?
Live and let live. Gay people get angry because anti-gay activists are sticking their noses where it doesn't belong, i.e. in other peoples' lives.

    • I do not agree with this but this what Malcolm X spoke about... The hate that hate produces. I think that as we move towards a country that does more than "tolerates" people but respect and honors and protects all as full citizens and human beings this kind of behavior must be treated with the same reaction and rigor as hate towards any group, here being gay men and women. We only go backwards when we become that which we hate ourselves so please I say to the gays let peace prevail even in the face of hate unless of course you are in a situation where you have to protect yourself. No one has to stand by and be a Matthew Shepard or a Lawrence King. We all have the right to defend ourselves.

    • :D I know the people that were singing and worshiping there! they've lived in that area for years and are truly the most loving and chill people I've ever met!

They truly love San Fransisco, and the homosexual community:) and continually pray and fast for them! They're not religious and pray against the spirit of religion all the time...that's why their love for God is truly real, and God loves the homosexuals but not homosexuality, and religion hates it all and judges.

The people there were not hating...I am not hating, how could I, I believe the homosexual community have the hearts to become the most radical lovers of God:D awesome right!

    • Wow!

After all of the pro-gay stories that have been posted here, it's amazing to watch the hatred and bigotry that ensues when someone with a differing opinion dares to post something.

You don't have to agree with him/her, but name-calling, venom, hatred, etc. is going a little over the top. Anger management sounds like a viable suggestion.

And many of the stories posted here could easily be defined as "hearsay." Why is that OK if you are in agreement with them, but not OK if you are in disagreement?

soleil10 has a rich history here at current.
It mostly involves pushing his/ her paranoid agenda, equating gay marriage with institutionalized pedophilia and civil rights activists with Nazis, among other things. S/he's earned a good bit of the venom.

The video was not posted by a member of this Xstian group. They have been going there for 3 years and did not have a video camera. Not every one carry a camera expecting to be attacked

I doubt that they will press charges but will choose to forgive and forget.

You can believe whatever you want.

These actions and many others during the last two weeks qualify as hate crimes but the press and politicians are "girly men" in California.

    • soleil10, the difference between you and us, is that the gay community does not go into the hard-core christian communities and push our ways onto you. We do not try to force you to love our homosexuality, all we ask for is equality, and when you come into our neighborhoods and provoke a fight... well it's pretty clear what happens.

you may be trying to "love the people" but by feeding homophobic, anti-gay ideals with your stunt you are overstaying your visit.

    • unimatrix,

I know it is embarassing to defend the shoving, molesting, peeing, stealing, hitting, kicking, yelling and the making of death threats on other human beings.

So it is easier to attack me instead

America is watching the true face of intolerance by people who want special rights and show no respect to democracy.

    • Soleil10 is constantly posting homophobic opinions and stories. His bias is plain for everyone to see. His is a voice for ignorance, hatred and oppression. Hiding behind "his love for Jesus Christ" he would strip homosexuals of their basic human rights and make them second class citizens. Sometimes an angry mob delivers justice.

If you don't like gays stay home and relax. 99% of us are prepared to tolerate gays and even fundamentalist christians.

I'm not sure but by calling me a "wise guy" perhaps you have already made your decision. I suspect that you and I are on the same side of this issue we just disagree on how best to obtain the goal.

    • The parallels to this, and the nazi march in Skokie, Illinois are many:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skokie,_Illinois

      NSPA Controversy
In 1977 and 1978, Illinois Nazis of the National Socialist Party of America (derived from the American Nazi Party) attempted to demonstrate their political existence with a march in Skokie — at the City's north western border — far from their south side headquarters. Originally, the NSPA had planned a political rally in Marquette Park, in the south side of Chicago, to which the City reacted against, first, by requiring the NSPA post an onerous public-safety-insurance bond, then, by banning all political demonstrations in Marquette Park.

Seeking another free-speech political venue, the NSPA chose to march on Skokie. Given the many Holocaust survivors living in Skokie, the Village's Government thought the Nazi march would be politically provocative and socially disruptive, and refused the NSPA its permission. In the event, the American Civil Liberties Union interceded in behalf of the NSPA, in the case of the National Socialist Party of America v. Village of Skokie, wherein an Illinois appeals court raised the injunction issued by a Cook County Circuit Court judge, ruling that the presence of the swastika, the Nazi emblem, would constitute deliberate provocation of the people of Skokie, however, the Court also ruled that Skokie's attorneys had failed to prove that either the Nazi uniform or their printed materials, alleged the Nazis intended to distribute, would incite violence. [5]

Moreover, because Chicago subsequently lifted its Marquette Park political demonstration ban, the NSPA ultimately held its rally in Chicago. In 1981, the attempted Illinois Nazi march on Skokie was dramatised in the television movie, Skokie
