'We're doing something we haven't since the 1930s,' labor organizer says

CHICAGO - Workers laid off from their jobs at a factory have occupied the building and are demanding assurances they'll get severance and vacation pay that they say they are owed.

About 200 employees of Republic Windows and Doors began their sit-in Friday, the last scheduled day of the plant's operation.

“I have to stay,” Raul Flores told a local news organization. “Not just for me. For my family. For my children.”

    • Exactly,.... is it just BIG city people? It is almost delusional to me, I live in a town of oh,... 100,000, and when a company shuts down, that's it. All she wrote. Do these people actually think their jobs are coming back???Don't they have unemployment?

    • What if the company has no money left? That is one of the problems with jobs (working for someone else) you are always at their mercy. Of course, the problem of working for your self is taking care of people who don't understand how business works. And it works like this, when the country is in a panic and quits spending money businesses fail. Sad but true.
