Two of my heroes make plans to save the world.

"We have the opportunity now to create jobs all across this country, to re-power America, to redesign how we use energy, to think about how we are increasing efficiency, to make our economy stronger, make us more safe, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and make us competitive for decades to come, even as we are saving the planet," Obama said.

Yes we can.

    • Al Gore and the media want you to get concerned to sell you $4.00 light bulbs. Do know that we are in a warming period, but don't be concerned as this is normal and you can't do anything to stop it from happening as its been happening for millions of years.
FORGET THE REAL ESTATE BUBBLE, ENTER THE GREEN/GLOBAL WARMING BUBBLE. HUGE PROFITS FOR MR. GORE HE JUST WANTS YOUR MONEY.

    • And why did he say just decreasing dependence on foreign oil when Al Gore's challenge calls for 100% renewable energy in 10 years? That means eliminating our dependence on oil (and fossil fuels) in general, not just foreign oil. His words are still too vague for my liking. The first 100 days will tell much.

    • Mr. Gore requested the meeting and that speaks volumes. Obama needs to update his climate change platform. It is outdated and his support of 'clean coal' is disingenuous. Hopefully Mr. Gore filled his ears today. And the world will not be greened unless we do it.

    • You know what this picture reminds me of? Have you ever fallen asleep and stayed asleep just on one side of your face the entire night and when you wake up the opposite side of your face feels all lively and animated but the side you slept on is all numb and just annoying to experience? Al Gore is the numb side.

Hmmm, a "numb" side to you who knows more about this crisis and how to face it than Obama could ever hope to know. I sure hope he was listening today. Smiles mean nothing, it's action that matters now.

And mono-tone words and powerpoint presentations only go so far until Mr. Gore trips over the fact that he was in Big Oils back pocket until he lost the 2000 election and found himself out of a job. Lets also not forget about the fact that Al was against Kyoto before he was for it, during his time as a Senator he only attended 73% of time due to his interests with his construction company TVA, when he was there Gore voted to restrict a snail and a fish from the endangered species list, supported nuclear energy, was in bed with a paper company, and let us not forget the fact that "ozone man's" house uses 20 times more power then the national average. So ofcoarse Al has a green thumb, after all, wouldn't your thumb be green counting all your money after you just got finished riding the coat tails of the environmental crusade and got in bed with "environmentally concerned" companies? (who just so happen to be the same companies like BP, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, car companies, etc.......but it's ok, they call themselves green now. And I'm sure Al isn't getting any kick backs from promoting their products in his speeches.)

LoL, really? That was your rebuttle? Oh, I forgot, when far left liberals get cornered they resort to insult instead of open debate just like far right wingers. Hey, a nut job is a nut job right? Oh, and being that I worked for the Obama campaign along with many other progressive organizations I don't really think Fox would hire me. Well atleast you didn't tell me what I should be thinking like you do to most other people on different threads. Heres an idea, if you want people to take you seriously, especially when you attack people like Barack Obama, make sure that the people you do support are practicing what you preach.

But now I'm bored. Peace Out!

I wouldn't overuse the term NAZI. First of all, you're misusing it and causing it to lose it's actual meaning: ie: a socialist fascist movement that is also anti-semitic. I wouldn't say anyone on this thread sounds that way...but who knows...I could be wrong. What she's resorting to sounds more like a knee-jerk reaction then anything else, but I wouldn't use the term NAZI. That's just a knee-jerk reaction on your part, and thus you are just lowering yourself to the level that you claim to oppose.

quixotic12, there was nothing socialist about the Nazi party save its name. Originally, it was a socialist party which was moribund. Hitler chanced upon it and basically hijacked it for his own agenda, and kept the name but not the goals.

    • Has Exxon cluster bombed the meeting yet?
It is quite amazing how Obama has become this incredible beacon of possibility and rejuvination of the american spirit.

And it is great to see Gore and Obama collaborating. But only time will tell if any great change will come about. And time is one thing that we as a species are running out of.

It may be the greatest time of human achievement, spearheaded by this extremely enigmatic figure.
Or the greatest waste of possibility of potential that human kind has ever seen.

Hope im alive to see. But im more optimistic now than before the US election.

EDIT: COULD YOU IMAGINE! Sarah palin in a position of power. Or her winning in 2012. WOW!
