Zero deaths, as stated above. If you don't want to believe it, let that be your ignorant choice but just don't go spreading false claims that it does kill.

Deaths from a direct high? Nope here you go Steven44
http://www.webmd.com/smoking-cessation/news/20030918/marijuana-smoking-doesnt-ki...
"And since marijuana smoking can't kill outright -- there's no such thing as a fatal marijuana overdose -- short-term use isn't deadly. Long-term use can't be good for you. But Sidney notes that most marijuana smokers don't become long-term users."

The drugs need to be put and kept in the hands of responsible people, so unless they are egregiously behaving inappropriately, why does it matter if what GOD put on the planet helps them become more relaxed human beings?
I know people are stupid, but surely weed is a better drug than alcohol behavior-wise, and maybe that was one of God's few rewards that should be used accordingly?
Our society is polluted with enough unnecessary lies as it is.

Just think, if jesus had passed a joint around at the last supper instead of wine, which one would be legal today? Ewwww, that church/state thing again.

Naw, you must be thinking of alcohol.
Alcohol: 75,000 deaths per year
Marijuana: 0 deaths per year. - 3 years ago

While I doubt the 0 deaths stat, alcohol is, without a doubt, just as destructive as marijuana but much much more legal. I don't even smoke, it just doesn't make sense to spend so much money on "preventing" a victimless crime. (if you can call it preventing - we're still the largest consumer of drugs in the world)

Steven44, you doubt there are 0 deaths from pot? Find me a statistic that says otherwise and I'll concede. Better yet, get a huge stash of pot, and "smoke till you die." Now, i think THAT would be laughable.
So are you naive, or just misinformed? I'm not trying to talk down to you, but really, lethal toxicity of marijuana is NOT the issue here.

Even then Setven44 if those numbers are true you cant tell me that Alcohol is a better drug than Marijuana. So according to you Alcohol, and Tobacco should be outlawed also? We know how Alcohol prohibition turned out, don't we?

Steven44:
Marijuana "Related" deaths refer to transportation and distribution of an "Illegal" substance in the black market. Dealers of that nature will "Kill" to protect their profit, police are killed, other dealers are killed ect. Which is why they call it a marijuana "Related" death.
If it were to be legalized, the black market would be out of the picture, therefor . . . no more deaths.

Steven44:
Drug-related death does NOT mean the person "died from marijuana intake." It means the guy had weed in his system when he was hit by a bus, or shot, or killed himself.
Also, your source doesn't indicate whether the person that died was on marijuana IN ADDITION to another substance.
That narrows your stats down to the "single-drug death" category, 14 deaths in 03. None for 2004.
And, from your source: "Even in single-drug deaths, readers should not assume that the drug was necessarily the direct and sole cause of death."
I hate to be a drag, but can you provide a reliable source that proves somebody died solely as a result of smoking too much cannabis?
EDIT: what pjacobs said ;)

Marijuana should be legalized, taxed and regulated for medical and recreational purposes.
Free the weed.

I disagree. Marijuana should be legalized and allowed to live to free and grow in the wild like it did for the past 6,000 years. How can you make a wild plant illegal? Even the American constitution and the first American flag were made out of hemp. In a way, it's unconstitutional to ban it. But hey, the government has to keep the sheep in line while maximizing profits. They'll go to any lengths to get what they want.

What I meant by disagreeing, is that it should not be taxed. Anyone should be allowed to grow it, just like anyone is allowed to grow Oranges. Anyone should be allowed to cultivate it, cure it, and sell it. Same with pharmacies. It's just the government wants all the profit, they don't want the people and local pharmacies with that advantage of growing it and making all the money without Big Brother getting a share.

You really think the president and Congress are the people who run this nation?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaG9d_4zij8&eurl
Knowing who has control of the military is knowing who runs the executive branch. In this clip, they extended it to controlling the legislative. Keep on having "hope" in your NObama, but he's just another tool. Not only is he related to the Bush family, but he's basically Bush III.

John you need to look at it as a benefits versus dangers. Yes most drugs are extremely harmful for you and have gnarly side effects but Marijuana is one of the few drugs that the benefits out weigh the risks (if there are any risks) dramatically. Look it up some time.
