Soleil,
"Create your own institution and tradition" sure sounds a lot like the "seperate but equal" policy of the Jim Crow laws. Your right to get married and all that is not at all impeded by complete strangers.

No one argues with that.
But when letters are sent to employers to have someone fired because they gave $100 to a cause they believe in, it is a completely different level. These Google black lists are not about companies but mostly about individuals.
You are missing the point.
Companies do not vote, people do. The intimidation and the reprisal spirit behind these black lists is to silence voters duiring future votes.
No on 8 got so much corporate donations, much more than from individuals.

In a free country, people get to boycott whomever they want to boycott. If businesses want to work overtime to offend any group, then, they shouldn't be surprised if that group takes its money elsewhere.
This applies to all groups. If Arabs don't want to do business with Israel or all the Western countries that have large Jewish populations, then, let them boycott Israel and all the Western nations. Let them buy all their high-tech and industrial equipment from fellow Arab nations, which I assume will supply them with the very best.
If radical, right-wing, Fundamentalist Christians do not like companies that support human rights, let them boycott Campbell's soup, not take their children to Disneyworld and never use Google again. That is their right.

I think its fair to have this list of those business's that supported Yes on 8, so that people who voted No on 8 don't have to give them business.

As for "redefining marriage":
Isn't it true that before the Reformation in England, only a Catholic priest could perform a legal marriage, and it was Henry VIII who challenged the Catholic church regarding divorce, which had been illegal?
Martin Luther even said that marriage is "a worldly thing... that belongs to the realm of government."
We've been gradually altering marriage for centuries (thankfully)!

They are obviously ashamed other wise they would attempt to put their face publicly along with the ads they back. And look up the definition of civil rights before you try to TELL other people your opinion instead of voice it.

Marriage has been tweaked throughout American history. Remember that initially it was illegal for interracial couples to marry.
Also, how would allowing gay marriage redefine marriage as a whole for others? It's not like straight couples could not get married if gay marriage was allowed. Actually it's proponents of Prop 8 who are defining marriage for everybody else by deciding who can and can't get married despite the fact that it has no barring on their lives. People in glass houses really shouldn't throw stones.
Oh and here's the dictionary's definition of Civil Rights
noun
right or rights belonging to a person by reason of citizenship including especially the fundamental freedoms and privileges guaranteed by the 13th and 14th amendments and subsequent acts of Congress including the right to legal and social and economic equality.
This by default would make gay marriage a civil right.

We have gone over this a million times on this website. There is nothing that I can tell you that would change your mind.
We have a track a 40 years record of effort to destroy the American family.
It was always abut a right and another right. Now this country is a mess, bankrupt morally and financially
I wish good luck to Obama and his liberal friends.
All I have to do is watch and wait.

This people are not ashamed. Why should they ?
Gay marriage is not a civil right to begin with. Create your own institution and tradition. You do not have a right to redefine marriage for other people
Who do you think you are ? Are you so superior to the rest of thre world ?

Soleil... Proposition 8 did not simply repeal previous amendments which allowed same-sex marriages. Proposition 8 defined marriage as one man and one women. A legal definition which has never been attributed to marriage in the history of, well... marriage. Who do you proposition 8 people think you are... are you so superior to the rest of the world?

Anyone looking down upon this and calling it a "blacklist/hit-list" needs to step back and realize something:
These people are not being called out for merely having a different opinion or belief. They are being called out because they contributed to an unconstitutional, corrupt, and deliberate effort in eliminating a specific group of people's rights. No one should have the ability to do this. Attempting to do so is suppose to be illegal; thus, it's only fair that they are now suffering some backlash.
You cannot overstep your boundaries and force a group of people to be upheld to your religious standards and then attempt to retreat back into anonymity in order to escape accountability.
If these people are ashamed of their bigotry, then they should try being decent human beings.

I think you should use yellow stars on the map. Then you can round up everybody who want to protect marriage and open a concentration camp.
You guys are getting sicker by the day.

I'm flattered that gays are so powerful as to send the country down the toilet; if that's the case, the toilet is inevitable because we will see full rights sooner than you'd like to acknowledge! : )

Redefining the institution of marriage and damaging the basis of democracy by asking the supreme court to overide the decision of the voters for the second time is enough to destroy this country.

Lack of moral values and greed is the cause of the financial crisis.
If the Supreme court of California override the voters once more at the same time that California declares bankruptcy, may be some people will get it.
When politicians and Obama cant solve the problems this country faces, people will have to start to look deeper.
The expensive party in Washington is over soon.

Odd how you bash communism and atheism in the same sentence when you yourself sound like a Christian Communist - you talk about greed and all that like it's a very bad thing. And also, bad morals didn't cause the economic problem.
