Though it had nothing do with creating jobs or stimulating the economy and had everything to do with sneaking in a pro-Entertainment industry initiative, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) almost single-handedly dealt a deadly blow to the Net Neutrality issue.

This is all about a new revenue stream. ISP providers want to strike exclusive deals with media providers to fast track access to their sites while slowing down access to competing and independent content providers. They also want to weed out high bandwidth users that they claim are clogging up their network. In America the virtual monoplies of the cable and communication providers means no real competition to no incentive to provide better bandwidth and coverage. Back in the 80's when congress allowed the communication companies (cable and phone) to provide all data, voice and media services which had been previously been blocked by antitrust law, it was under the agreement that they build a high speed network available to ALL Americans. Anybody who lives in a rural or small town area can testify as to how that worked out. My parents live only a few miles from a mid sized town and 20 minutes away from a major metropolitan area but are reduced to dial up at about 9 KBS (yes I said NINE KBS) and have been told that cable will never be run on their road and the phone lines havent been upgraded in over 40 years.
