    • Big Business first convinced Bush to help! The caricaturist is wrong!
The American people got conned.....but our gov't is out of its league. Big business has runned this country into the ground and they have yet to apologize, while they greedily gulp up the bail out money. They have no shame as they ask for more money. This country is on a course of destruction slowly devouring itself. Throwing money at this issue won't change a thing. I fear this country is out of control, and has no idea how to change direction.

Yes we cannabis would make the third worlding of the USA much easier to bear.

I suspect that despite the sincere efforts of Obama, Globalization that started in Reagan's term, will defeat any real progress. Reagan thought of it, Bush talked it up and the Cons pushed the NAFTA bill that Clinton, a DLC traitor did not VETO despite the Dems begging him to do so.

McCain thinks American workers can compete with workers all over the world. lol well, that means just pennies an hour. And that is what he and many others want to come out of globalization. The biggest con of all was that Cons and DLC Dems convinced
middle class Americans that they actually cared.

Yes we cannabis would make it all easier to bear and the medical use wouild help many.

Even the upper middle class will feel the decline. The upper 2 percent will prosper from the decline of the rest and that was the design of globalization. There is nothing a single person can do about it. We need a Teddy Roosevelt or a FDR.

    • I just watched Michael Moore's Sicko last night about the Health care system in America and it was disgusting how monetary gains run our hospitals in comparison to Europe and Canada. Billy Tauzin is now a CEO for a pharma company that he helped make huge gains through his medicare stunt....and makes more than 2 million a year.

Shawn, I am glad you got to see sicko. I saw it in full for the first time just recently also.
Billy "rotten" Tauzin R of Louisiana should be in jail imho.
He blackmailed, threatened, and even used withholding of RNC campaign funds to make all his fellow republicons vote for the bill that was a give away to big pharma and had a clause in it that the US gov. could not negotiate drug prices for medicare patients as they currently do for the VA.
Billy had stomache cancer but did not have to face the obstacles others who have HMOs do. He got the best pampered care in the world, and unfortunately for America survived and is making millions working for big pharma as a lobbiest.
If there was justce Divine or otherwise, this blood sucking parasite would be in jail.

    • The Patriot Act, Billy "corrupt" Tauzin R of Louisiana's big medicare give away to big Pharma, were rammed throught without most of the House and Senate reading the bill.
Nlo one complained too loudly about that one, but then the republicons controlled both houses then.

The only way to get money flowing in the economy is to spend, unfortunately. And if we plan short term like our wonderfully managed corporations (sarcasm) there will be no long term benefits. Repuplicons are against anything that will be long term despite the fact that it might make recovery last longer.

I think all the republicons who are against the light rail and other possibilities refuse any help for their states and be honest instead of hypocritical. Some are even talking about how they got certain things in this bill, lol, and they voted against it.
One Rep. R was on TV doing that and the anchor said after that he had actually voted against the bill. I guess that shows the intellect of the people in his district.

    • As with any plan we make, whether for a vacation,[party or wedding for example. You can't fairly say it doesn't work until it has taken place, and turns out good or bad.. This might work. It is a step in the right direction, no thanks to the REPUBLICANS. Why are the Republicans so adamant about always voting against the Democrats? Shouldn't their main concern be what is best for the people instead of following the tradition of combatant attitude? Wouldn't it be nice to abolish DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS and just have a group of people in congress working for the betterment of the country instead of against each other?

    • Oh I'm sorry, were we supposed to be handing out more bailouts to executives and crooked banks? Maybe we should be giving more money to oil companies and pharmaceuticals? Did the poor Republicans not get their way and have the money go to the richest of the rich? Poor things!

    • I love the fact that no matter what transpires with the stimulus package the Republicans will be remembered 4 years from now that they did not approve of trying to save our economy from collapse and that their lack of initiative will show the American people what assholes they really are except for the three Republicans who voted - Yes I can!

    • If the "con is on" we are used to it (unfortunately) we've been conned for the past 8 years in a major way, hopefully this will be better.

    • I don't see how it's a swindle. Health care costs of the recently unemployed will be payed up to 60%(Cobra) by the government. Tax breaks will be given to college students and married couples. Additionally, a cap on CEO salaries/bonuses has been added(applies to companies that have recently received funding from the US government). workers will also get an additional $13 dollars in every pay check.

    • The pic is way cool - but I love me some Democrats.

Obama will lead us into the light and out of the Republican darkness.

      Yes we can.
