"The scientist's and lab's that conduct the experiments need to brought down harshly."

...only if the labs ARE cruel and harsh. I've worked in a few labs that are nowhere near anything harsh or cruel (though many say that cages alone are, I disagree). granted, mice are nothing emotionally or intelectually like chimps which I have no personal experience with, which the article is about.

thanks for sharing the video, however it was about the in-Humane society and not really about animal testing. good post all the same.

    • DEVORULES: wow, haven't taken any biology, zoology, biochemistry, genetics, anatomy, health, or nutrition classes have you? yes. cruetly is wrong in all forms on all beings... but to say animal testing hasn't made any progress in science is just ignorance. hell we've got a cure, CURE! for diabetes from mice for crying out loud! too bad bush made it illegal.

but yes... chimps are more or less like human children and we should take very good care of them. I'm not the one to answer the question on using them for testing but I'm not against all animal testing. even if we continue to use them for science we DO need to guarantee their overall health and well being.

apparently you haven't observed the alarmingly abusive video from the Humane society.. It was in my e-mails this morning.
Im all for experimentation etc...but not when the treatment of the animal is barbaric and cruel.

these chimp's/Apes were being treated horribly. The scientist's and lab's that conduct the experiments need to brought down harshly. Our law's are way too lenient ...HERES THE LINK TO SEE FIRST HAND ..communityhush.org/campaign/FED_2009_Apeprotectionact

    • And how many cures for disease or medical procedures have you been responsible for Devorules? What makes you an expert on this?

all i have to say is WATCH THE VIDEO... thats all it took for me to realize these so called "Scientist's are barbaric S.O.B's.. In it you'll see how they man handle them..torture them with shots of a gun...watch them fall to the concrete floor from their plat forms..etc..its pathetic how the so called lab workers do their "WORK"..

Yank the baby chimp from the cage , roughly hurl him down on a table, injecting him in the belly with a needle?? this experimentation shouldn't be legal if it's done that way.

just watch the video..i think people will start to become very quiet after the fact...............Jill

this isn't about what laws are in effect or not in effect for animal rights....its about fair and ethical treatment of an animal.. Im speaking from a human perspective.. from the heart i guess you could say..

Some people are heartless..simply put. You , I'm afraid are just that...HEARTLESS.. Have a great day Mike. ~Jill

I do not believe in animal cruelty . However, I dont try to project humanity on to dumb animals. Having grown up on a farm where what we ate was literally what we could grow, raise or shoot I dont have a false sentimentality for animals.

    • Part of me thinks this is very bad. But we would not have the advances in science and medicine if this was not allowed to happen. Save yourselves!!!

You need to get a reality check.. Yes its one thing to do the experiments for human knowledge and health benefits etc...but not at the expense of the animals rights!...I'm assuming you haven't even viewed the ugly video depicting how these labs work?? maybe once you see it , you'll have a different opinion..

just looking out for our defenseless animal friend's..
