UK “Green Adviser” Says Population Must Fall to 30 Million

The Optimum Population Trust (OPT) will release research suggesting UK population must be cut to 30m if the country wants to feed itself sustainably.

Jonathon Porritt said: “Population growth, plus economic growth, is putting the world under terrible pressure.

So thirty million of the UK's 60 million citizens need to die? How do they propose that this happens?

    • I'd feel a lot more confident about Jonathon Porritt's theories of depopulation if he would put his money where his mouth is and depopulate himself.

    • Just stop making new babies until the old folks die off, that's all.

      Nothing to worry about.

      If we don't do it by choice, we're going to have more than a 50% population reduction world wide on accident just because of biologically persistent pollution, global climate change, and estrogen-mimicking pollutants reducing the sperm count in men to zero.

    • A scare tactic that does little to address the real problems and completely ignores potential for human innovation . If we don't want to change how we do anything the population must drop . The corporate status quo still standing . It is they that fear change and they try to scare the rest of us . We do need to change , for so many reasons . Adapting is what humans do best .

      We should probably create some procreation regulations too, but that raises a whole other barrage of moral and ethical problems that america especially will never wade through.

    • That sucks because our global population is expected to peak at 10 billion people within a matter of decades. I cant imagine such a world, but to be honest i doubt we will do anything to prevent it...
