Sitting in his mother-in-law's living room, Matthew Dean's eyes widened in shock as he listened to what his social worker was telling him.
Because he was a man and a soldier - accustomed to fighting for Britain in war-torn countries - he was, they said, more likely to be of a violent disposition, and therefore more capable of abusing his baby son, Louie.
'I was furious,' says Matthew. 'To be told that my occupation and gender should have any bearing on my parenting skills and sense of decency was absolutely beyond belief.'

: For every eligible child,
the federal government reimburses 50 to 83 cents of
every dollar spent to keep that child in foster care.
The federal government lavishes billions of dollars
each year on foster care. Much of it can’t be used
for anything else. And the foster care money comes as
an open-ended entitlement. The federal government offers far, far less for safe, proven alternatives to foster care - -and that funding
is not an entitlement.
As a result, the feds wind up spending at least nine
times as much on foster care as on alternatives. In Florida this adds up to an estimated $140 million
per year. For a young enough child it’s an experience akin to a
kidnapping.ref:

While I see thes statistics on average more than many who are not looking for them, I have to wonder if they are swayed by the fact that more women tend to recieve custody. This falls under the aspect of "fatherless statistics"..... When even taking statistics 101, or entry to psychology (ive read the text books, learning vicariously from my friends who are in college) the biggest concern for reading data like this is if there is an even playing feild.
The courts generally do give custody to mothers at an extremly higher rate then they give them to fathers. This gives an uneven outlook on these statistics. Could the factor be moreso the workings of sole custody rather than gender??
Without giving custody to fathers evenly we cannot base these numbers merely on gender. Our species is meant to raise children in a family setting, that includes grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Can our minds handle doing it alone??
Unfortunately studies to look into these situations more are not carried out. I can blame this moreso on the fact that our govt stands to make more money by not looking into this and staying on the current path of distruction. There is no money in intact families, there is even less money in equal parenting schedules. We have succumbed to our own government's greed and allowed them to destroy our families.

The issue here is that they just made a generalization, was there any evidence of PTSD?? Even so, there are plenty of facilities for treatment as we know much more about these issues.
To hear someone say "you cant see your child because...." and their reason is either trivial or backed by nothing but their own persaonal biases/opinions is one of the hardest things a parent can go through.
Why do we give people this power to disrupt our families without any true oversight??

you are bunching social workers into one group-a corrupt one. get over yourself. it's just like the normal population...a certian portion are ill-intentioned.
a lot of social workers get into the biz b/c of some trauma or experiences they've had in their lives-as a way to help others to prevent trauma so they don't have a healthy chance at life. - 2 years ago

A rotten apple ruins the barrel. In my experiance of dealing with families who have to live the horrors of having their child(ren) taken from them on less than circumstantial evidence, talking with foster parents, and even some caseworkers. I can say with certainty that the system ultimately corrupts even the good intentioned "newbies".
What we have funding these government institutions is what is called a financial incentive program. SS Title IV-E to be exact when dealing with CPS issues. They recieve money based on their actions. Kids on drugs get near twice as much $$. Young teenagers who freak out and want to go back home, are basically euthanized with psycho-active drugs, small children who act as small children should, yet the foster home has too many kids to adequately take care of an active child get drugged into submission as well. Who cares, its for the benefit of the children right??
The well intentioned case workers are either eventually weeded out, or kept on specific cases where they wont have to make decisions their supervisors want in order to keep the annual budget alive. Ive even known of certain people who are investigated by their own dept after voicing their own concerns.
Its a matter of job security, while many offices seem to have a revolving door as the CPS caseworker role is more suited for gaining experiance and a step towards a better paying job, the ones that tend to stick around are mainly the ones that make their decisions based on the funding.

Subject: President wants CPS stories
Date: Monday, April 6, 2009, 10:27 AMI received this from one of my myspace activist friends. Many of us have stories they should hear. The info is below:
------------ --------- --------
Dear anti-CPS members:We have been requested by the President to help with the reform of CPS. He has been in personal touch with one of our members and is expecting our help. If you are serious about your criticisms and your desire to see that the corrupt practices of the various children Protective services around the country be stopped, now is the time to act. President and Michelle Obama have the power and the willingness to make the changes we have been fighting for.
But he needs our help to set the wheels in motion. He has personally requested that we all send direct to him our experiences with CPS. The recount of your stories may be sent to either President Barack Obama or to the First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House Washington DC 20500.
In large block letters write “personal and confidential”
The letters may be typed or handwritten. Please no profanity.

Social welfare, my ass...social mayhem is a far better description. Far to many of these "family social engineers" are so damned dysfunctional in their own lives that is frightening to even consider the impact that they have on those they "oversee" for the "benefit of the children"..where they don't intercede, they should, and where they should, they don't...go figure

This is So Absurd.
These socialistic, bias, dysfunctional social workers need to get a grip on their values, integrity instead of focusing their interest on the incentive funds they receive and Tearing apart families for their own profit.Regards,

incentive funds do not effect the caseworkers paycheck, and I dont recall anyone saying so, they effect the annual budget. Do your homework, look into where your money comes from. SS Title IV-E
