Did ANY of YOU VOTE in the local primaries??????Are you pathetic????

I looked on the major networks, the smaller networks. I looked on current under voting, voter turnout... I can't find anything regarding local polls from yeesterday.
NO ONE cares about their local elected officials?
The local officials are the most important for your everyday life.
Voter appathy! Did any current people go to the polls and vote yesterday?
We've bred a society of "hey, my vote doesn't count" zombies.
DID YOU VOTE YESTERDAY?
Don't complain about your local judges, and other important officials. Did you know you just let anyone run to be the local coroner, the guy that cuts up your loved ones in an autopsy.....

The problems politically all started at home. National issues are extremely important but the immediate surroundings do effect you everyday...like property taxes... school boards spending your money.... Judges deciding local cases...... local officials effect businesses.. roads...water... I could go on but you get my drift.
Just consider the local elections in November. That's almost 6 months away. 'Might feel good to be involved, just voting. Are you registered to vote?
I don't care what your affiliation is just do it!

The NEA is like the inmates running the asylum! Bad move. Made being a teacher easier for them, but robbed the children. And the government keeps throwing more money at a losing situation. The system needs revamped before it will work, no matter how much money we throw at it.
Yes, our kids education is worth every dollar IF it's effective.

    • I was not able to vote in it,, because I am still registered in Louisiana, despite my return to Pennsylvania. And it is not easy for me to get around with transportation issues to straighten this up. and truthfully, where I live now is temporary, so I know nothing of the candidates or their opinions. However, I have voted in every presidential election since I turned 18, and have voted in the senate races, as well as governor races. And I NEVER have cast a vote as a "protest vote". I always vote for my conscience, and for those who are not in opposition to my values. The only reason why Santorum edged out Wofford for Pa. senate was the absentee ballots- it was these that gave Santorum the advantage. And my absentee vote was one of them. (as I was living in Panama at the time.) Do you think your vote doesn't matter? BS!!

When Santorum was voted out, it was a sad day. He was the truest senator I've known of. The media and the other party tore up every little bit of any crap they could and twisted it to try to destroy a good, upstanding man. He always did what was right. What a shame that the political climate could do that to such a good person.

    • That very commendable, thanks for being involved in your local elections. Keep it up.
Maybe you'll get the playground if more people fight for it.
Talk to teachers and their NEA in your area, maybe they can help. Couldn't hurt.

When we had education board elections, all the candidates were Republican, but I went to meet them and one man impresssed me with his credentials and ideas.
He was very frustrated that he could not get the citizens to vote for a small tax increase so public computer labs and classes on computers could be installed at the public libraries. Many children do not have computers at home and frankly Mississippi is a poor state. The Average income per household is very low.
I envy the central states and Northeast because the citizens seem to have a more caring and enlightened attitude towards education. Well, this man won and he is fighting tooth and nail to improve the system. I don't know why this area is the way it is but it will stay that way unless people change their attitudes towards projects that help the entire community and education.

If they had not stopped teaching Civics in the public schools in the early 80s things might have improved.

Yeah, the High school kid that volunteered to work as the clerk for us at the polls said he was doing it for law and economics. Not sure if they cover civics, this probably replaces it.
He's the first kid that was really interested in the whole process though so he'll keep voting. (this was his first time and he did an absentee ballot because he was assigned to a diferent district than his).

Civics is the only course that actually teached them how the Senate, House, Judiciary and Administration of the President work together, How bills are passed and some courses cover the Bill or Rights, the Declaration or Independence, Amendments to the Constitution and good citizenship.
Most Americans don't even know how a bill is passed or how many Senators each state has.
In college students can take American Government which is pumped up Civics.
I had a really good American Government course in College and Civics in high school.
They need to teach this again because most people who learn it tend to vote and be better informed.

    • I always vote for every single little thing in my county and small city. Last election was to fund the children's playground and I voted "yes" and only about 3 percent of the country showed up and the 'No"s won. So it looks like the children will not have a playground.
The Republican committee came out against it and they are the majority. It was pennies a year per household but why spend pennies on other people's children so they will have place to play football, baseball and other sports?

      I always vote.

    • We had Judges(supreme court, superior court, commonwealth court, and court of common pleas), cororner, prothonotary, DA, clerk of courts, jury commisioner, magitrate, school district director at large(?), city constable, judge of election and inspector of electionup for nominations.
We had a 'fair' showing, more than I thought would show. But still bad in number. We had less than a fifth of those registered in the two major parties show, and that's sad. And I'm not sure of the percentage that is of eligable voters in our district and precinct.
Thanks for voting! I wish everyone would vote.
And thanks for your input! ND

The problem i had with that bill is that though they are not allowed to raise their pay during recession, they are now allowed to raise their pay as high as they want during surplus years.

Well if they get US to surplus years while the Current politicians are in office,I'll start a petition to give them even MORE.

compare that to the Co. bonuses dolled out for a life time based ON the bottom line no mater what! I say that's a step forward If/when we get there

I understand no body wants to 'lose' their job but that's a just not right. Sure I'd vote myself a raise, if I deserved it, but they don't all deserve it?! Probably of the politicians most don't deserve a pay raise!

    • While I normally lean democrat or independent, I did attend my county's republican mass meeting to nominate the canidate for my board of supervisors. I happen to know the current one and since no democrat has challenged him in four terms I figured it was better with the devil you know.

    • I did but the turnout in my town was low, mostly because it was a series of propositions, and since none of them had to do with weed or gay marriage nobody cared. *sigh*
