America's own Holocaust...

"The reduction of the North American Indian population from an estimated 12 million in 1500 to barely 237,000 in 1900 represents a "vast genocide . . . , the most sustained on record."
You would think that the American Indians deserve a little more than little "Reservations" for them and their families... Perhaps a real piece of land as we so forcefully fight for our Israeli friends... And how about the recognition of responsibility and apology for the biggest genocide known to man kind?

Because Native Americans are proud and refuse to play the victim.

And this is why I wonder why Indians (or at least SOME) would want to fight for THIS gov't in Iraq or Af-PAK.

What I would like to see....I'd like to see us move forward...
1) I'd like the association of tribes to reduce the percentage required to be counted as an Indian. Right now, there is an untold number of us who ignored (and often insulted).
2) I'd like the tribes to accept less than perfect family records. My mother should be accepted but less than perfect records has prevented her recognition. Given the time frame and the social stigma associated, the non-official records is to be expected. Note, financial considerations seem to be driving the actions of various tribes (with respect to required proof and percentage).
3) I'd like the special shoes from Nike (many American Indians have a slightly different shape to their feet) to be available outside of a reservation. WTF???? I'll even take mail order...

You are offended because i said our backyard since it happened within the land our parents, all of us and our children where born? (that's why the reference to our "own backyard")
So you are more offended about that than the fact that our ancestors massacered 12 million people???

Did you have to use an image of "Iron Eyes" Cody? First of all, he is not even Native American and second, he is a convicted criminal.
Let's try again without the insulting stereotype ;)
