The audit will focus on the use, and potential misuse, of court-appointed specialists in family-law disputes, such as mediators, investigators and therapists.
Critics say such appointees can form incestuous and incompetent networks more concerned with generating fees than helping children through painful custody fights.
"It becomes a service mill, a cottage industry of sorts," Leno said in an interview Wednesday. "Maybe state law needs to be changed."
Marin and Sacramento counties were chosen for the audit because of the number of litigants reporting problems
Sen. Mark Leno said family courts can become a "cottage industry" for paid consultants. (IJ photo)and filing complaints, said Ali Bay, a spokeswoman for Leno. But any changes recommended by the auditors could inspire new statewide legislation.
The audit is expected to take four months and cost about $160,000. The start date has not been determined.

Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Judicial Corruption is not only in our Family Court System but, a crime committed with " a wink and a nod " throughout our entire Judicial System not by one or two... but, by many Judges. Judges that conduct their court room this way feel protected and untouchable... They feel above the law and can continue this ongoing criminal conduct for many, many years.
I know first hand, because... I am also a victim of Judicial Corruption. What started out with internet theft with a large international corporation of my Marin County business... ended in witnessing open corruption in the court room. I am not alone... It is one thing being ripped off by a thief. But, it is entirely a different thing when that one person that you expect go to for justice for the crimes committed against you... sells out to the highest bidder as you watch as your constitutional rights are openly stolen and denied to you ~ by a corrupt judge! That crime is a far greater crime than the first crime. That is a crime that deserves a far greater punishment-! It is a crime that is not only committed against the original victims of crime... But, a crime committed against all of us! Unfortunately a crime that is seldom punished at all.
Our Judicial System is broken badly... It is all about lots of money and, people who feel that they are above the law and are protected by the positions that they hold.
" THIS ALL NEEDS TO CHANGE "
Starting with...
First: "All judges personal finances need to be fully audited yearly."
Second: ?
It is up to all of us to fix the system!
Because Currently, we have the best Judicial System and Political System... "That money can buy!"

Thanks Joe, The exposure you give this subject is applauded by many. As to this article all I can add is that out judicail system is the entry point of many cottage industries. Industries who's primay purpose is not the delivering of justice but the promotion of itself. To wit, the drug courts leading into a recovery program who's main purpose is self promotion and the distribution of pharmacueticals. Is one of many fine examples.

Corruption of the Judicial System...
This judge and his lawyer friend deserve lots of jail time. Their property should be sold off to pay for their own incarcerations AND restitution to the families of unjustly jailed children. I feel for these families. Do you suppose these kids will now get a FAIR TRIAL as is their right?
------------------ ~ JUSTICE ~ ------------------
Justice is a right of every citizen... it is not an option. A Judge is an employee like any other employee of the county or of the state and is paid a wage to provide a service for which he is entrusted to provide. A Judge is neither a God nor a King. He has a prime responsibility see that all citizens are administered a fair and equal Justice under the law as written in our constitution. His schedule, the courts schedule, personal ego and granted power of discretionary judgement are secondary to the supreme act of overseeing that every citizen receive their constitutional rights and equal justice under the law.
