ok thats a somewhat misleading headline, of a story that seems to also be biased a bit. what the original story does say, is that an office memo sent by 'Office of Management and Budget', not 'the administration' and says that federal employees and contractors are:
"obligated to protect classified information pursuant to all applicable laws, and to use government information technology systems in accordance with agency procedures so that the integrity of such systems is not compromised."The memo, which calls the disclosure damaging to national security, must be:
"declassified by an appropriate U.S. government authority" before it can be viewed by personnel that don't have the security clearance.
That, while is somewhat silly based on the worldwide exposure of the leaks and a little late in the saying, actually makes a lot of sense. Basically it says hey as fed employees, make sure all communications are kept to the proper security levels they are intended for, that proper security protocols are followed, and if you aren't of a clearance to be reading something that is not being secured under proper protocols, don't read it.
Basically if the administration is saying follow better or in the least current security proceedures and rules, which it appears they are saying, then umm yeah whats the problem with that? Lets not debate whether secret things should be secret, or what should or shouldnt be, but in the real, current world where there is an arguable necessity for these things according to the administration and many administrations before it, then what is wrong here?
