30 years of Reaganomics have devastated the American middle class, here is the graph that shows how bad it really is. The 50% income split point is $33,048 per year. This includes returns filed jointly. The total number of returns filed in 2008 was 139,960,580. All data compiled came from the Internal Revenue Service.
When you consider the fact that the number of returns in 1980 was 93,239,000 the bottom 50% have effectively flat lined.
America must raise taxes on the rich, and raise the minimum wage.

I know looking at the numbers really didn't have the impact on me that this graph did.
The graph only takes into account Federal income tax returns. Therefore the green line only represents 50% of those who filed taxes, which leaves out even more people.
The top 1% now make more than the bottom 50% combined.
