Not only did the GOP create the debt, but they depend upon it to justify the actions of their insidious efforts to confiscate America. Then, in typical brain manipulating spin, they use their own creation to accuse the left of the consequences of their own actions. It truly is the devil's work!

    • Here is what I do not understand about what is going on --- These Republican policies are hurting true small businessmen just as much as they are the low wage workers for the huge multinational corporations, yet the GOP's most strident supporters are small businessmen, how is this possible.

This is testimony to the effectiveness of the marketing (propaganda) campaign that Republicans are astute enough to plow their money into. The advertising, P.R., and media industry,ie. "Madison Avenue", would not have become the billion dollar industry it is if business did not recognize it's effectiveness. While Dems are able to raise money for campaigns, they have not garnered the vast sums of money to pour into marketing ( brain washing ) that Reps have. Have you noticed the non stop tv ads railing against Obama policies regarding the economy, jobs, food prices, ... that has already begun? It's a given that if a lie is professed often enough it becomes believable to many. There is no voice on the other side of the aisle to counter these lies yet. While a Warren Buffet or Bill Gates could sponsor some such advertising, they are a drop in the bucket compared to the commercial interests aligning their dollars against the people's interests and the other side of the aisle. Big Business has convinced Small Business that what might reduce their profit margins will also reduce Small Business's profit margins. Big will spare no money in this effort because they reason that when they gain sufficient control of government, they will be able to completely buy up or force Small Business out of business. It's the same with individual liberties! While the right is convincing it's supporters that government is encroaching on their liberties, they are organizing the actual elimination of individual rights and liberties. All of this is why voting alone may never restore democracy and people power to government. It may take something more.

I know that common -- but here is why I am so confused-- why do they believe the GOP rather than their own lying eyes. Walmart goes into a community and the local government pays for their building by waiving all tax liablity until the cost of the building is paided off--what small business gets such a break---not a damned one of them. Then Walmart undercuts every existing business so that the smaller businesses cannot compete and go out of business because the people can't see that they are cutting off their nose to spite their own faces. Walmart is not the only Big business doing this I am just using them as an example, they are the most well known.

Then we have Wall Street and the hedge funds that are not about to capitalize small businesses and start ups because they can create wealth out of thin air with no risk to themselves only to the taxpayers. Small businesses know they can't get needed credit to invest in their business. Many, Many small communities are reduced to only having Walmart to shop at when the other businesses are all driven out. However these same small business people that are being driven out are supporting the GOP. These small business people are also having to pay the 35% taxes because the don't have the ability or the wealth to shelter their income like the big guys can.

I read you and i feel your FRUSTRATION! The fact that the Walmarts of the world are permitted to prey upon society as they do, is testimony to government's negligence and malfeasance. But, while some people will always be hoodwinked by those who set out to exploit them, others are just too disinterested or mentally challenged to grasp reality. Even small businessmen buy into the spin and propaganda, often because they identify with one issue entirely unrelated to business. It seems to all go to the difference in the way people perceive and process information. Thus so, I take it for granted that we will always have to struggle with those who are incapable of recognizing that which is in their own best interest. In fact, I question if it isn't an inherent factor in evolution, that people are born with varying perceptual natures to insure that someone in the group is going to get it right, even if those who don't perish. But evolution requires that some get it right, even though we suffer because of those who don't. Otherwise, I am at a loss! But I appreciate your recognition of the facts and your effort to address them as best you can.
