sony, dominating the gaming industry since 1995 with their playstation videogame console, over the past years has been lagging when it comes to what gamers want. after cutting a small niche in the pie known as nintendo dominance(game boy handhelds, ds) they once again took a gamble with the third incarnation of the playstation. the ps3 has only dropped 100 dollars since its release in 2006, elimiated backward compatibility with its games, and threats from developers who say its complicated programming, and pricing, many have considered gaming to no longer be a form of entertainment, but a form of investment. at sony's press confrence, ceo sir howard stringer practically bashed naysayers, and said there will be no price cut for the ps3 in the foreseeable future. now that microsoft has two systems at three-hundred and four-hundred dollars, and nintendo has the cheapest system at 249, and sony's behemoth, the ps2 and psp dominating sales over the playstation 3 at some times, could this be sony's ultimate death knell in the next gen wars?
