define 'LIBERAL' for me please?

I keep seeing all these posts mention liberal this and libs that, and liberal blah blah blah... all as if these people don't know what the word actually means. so I thought it would be nice to post a few definitions.

wow, we can't have openminded, tolerant, and generous people out there now can we? that would mess up our cut throat rapacious pseudo-capitalistic oligarchy wouldn't it. just a thought.

people please stop using this word like it's some sort of insult or class of people or something... it just makes you look retarded to those of us who actually think. thank you.

    • I prefer to express my beliefs with my actions and not with the stamp on my forehead. I believe that life experiences change our views and I do not chase the current trend of a label to define my actions and beliefs.

      I'm glad to say I'm this or that if it fits. if it doesn't then I wouldn't accept the name/title...

      how could one say they're NOT atheist then agree that they don't believe in god? that IS the definition is it not? labels or not, we have words for such things and people should use them.

    • When I was a kid my family started calling me that . I think a liberal is one who QUESTIONS them . It is through questions we come to genuine solutions . Not delusional tripe . " I just know those weapons of mass destruction are here somewhere ! " An aware , thinking person is in danger of being liberal , eventually .

      I voluteer alot in free clinics in the inner city of Los Angeles and when I go to Iran and Norway I volunteer there. I love the feeling of giving things I drive a old Nissan because I would rather take 4 weeks off and volunteer then make buko bucks as an RN. Give don't recieve and life is all good.
      Money isn't everything. So I think I am a Liberal!

    • I am sad to admit i am confused by all the you are this or that lingo ! right, left, ogligarky, reformist, birther, liberal, demo, repu, gubment, all that stuff doesnt seem to fit me. I am just afraid of the direction our country is going in . I really thought B.O. was gunna change things. But its the same old policies with the same old people running things. I guess you can put me in the "reset group" because i think we need to start all over and try this America thing again. thanks for the learnin though. im trying to figure out all these new words !!!

    • The definition is very subjective. There are a lot of variables. Who is liberal in New Hampshire is very different from who is liberal in Tennessee.

    • I asked myself once why being a liberal is so very demonized. Then i thought about it, and i realised that free thinking is a very dangerous thing to the people who vilify it.

      To think is to ask questions and once people start asking questions, then there must be answers and if there are no answers, then the whole scheme falls on its head. Keep the populous fat, stupid and complacent. Mission accomplished.

      Time to shake things the fuck up.

      Great post though. I get really annoyed when people call me liberal in a bad way. It really is plain stupidity. Either that or laziness to actually look something up. OMG! We can't have that! No way!
