People must STOP just taking everything they read in the media as truth.
See, in Baghdad, one can BUY Mohammeden images and icons from vendors on the streets.
If it's against their religion for non muslims to make cartoons, why's it ok for them to make images. That's called double standard and it's total bull.
Because most people don't know that images and icons are READILY available all over the place including on Google Images, and because politicians are usually totally blind to simple realities, these pushy religious types get away with all their friggin' rhetoric and pushyness the second the uneducated 'infidel' makes a move those religidiots react with threats of violence and acts of violence.
And before anyone goes down my throat about this, NO, I'm NOT targeting any one particular religion. I mean all of them.
Have your religion. But remember, it is yours and you're supposed to keep it with you, under tight security at all times. The second it gets out and starts buggin' other people is when the rest of us get to step up and say "BACK THE HELL OFF!"

I think the art work is sub-par, and the humor in it, slapstick at best. The only thing remotely interesting is that Muhammad is not shown as circumcised.
If this was the very last piece of comedy that could make people laugh, I'd probably be ok with it. But, Jesus Fuckin' Christ! I wish people would stop resorting to cheap tricks to resuscitate their careers.
How about giving a little space to a people who don't share our irreverent sense of humour about anything and everything?
I am all for defending our freedom of speech and expression, but taken too far, you could justify murder with it. Freedom only works when you rub it on the faces of people who share it with you. Otherwise, it's just another act of provocation.

I think religion is a very personal thing and I don't see why people get so upset about it. I have been raised a Catholic and though I am not practicing - I only attend Midnight Mass at Christmas and the occasional Easter service - I do still consider myself a Christian/Catholic. However I would not get offended if someone made fun of Jesus or Mary or any other figures associated with Catholicism. Because I don't care what other people think of my faith. It is mine and mine only. If they don't believe, then that's their prerogative.
I can understand why people might get offended by this, I just personally think it's stupid that they do.
Obviously, me not being a Muslim I cannot relate to the importance of Muhammed in my life or in Islam, but the idea of life being centred around religion rather than religion being centered around life and how to live and enjoy it, to me is ridiculous.
I think that people have their right to freedom of speech, but at the same time, should really have some respect and not deliberately do things to provoke certain groups just for the hell of it.

The reason is because so many religions proselytize people and go out of their way to make other people suffer in the name of their religion; because they think they are helping God wage war on the sinners.
If people who were religious would be respectful of people who don't want to have anything to do with Religion and who DON'T want to be SAVED. Then we could perhaps make great strides towards real peace.
The problem is not the religions themselves, it is the extremists within the religions that make the world a bloody mess.

Well I don't know if this is just a Muhammad or Prophet Muhammad (May Peace be upon him).
Either way it is rude.As a Muslim, you are not suppose to have images of religious figures.
Why slap someone's religion in the face like that!
Denmark did this too!But if it was a guy named Muhammad it is still rude because it is not what Islam symbolizes.

People seem to have forgotten the real meaning of "offensive". Caricaturing / ridicule / defamation of character....?
Pah- you want something truly offensive, read about biochemical weapons development, the monkeys chained to posts with anthrax bombs detonated overhead.....that'll provide a bit of perspective.
Calling someone names is pretty small fry. Get a grip.

if any muslim residing in any non-muslim country can't accept free speech , and the larger context of "freedom" within which free speech occurs , and feels the need to protest and whine , then get the H out - go back to whatever country you came from and deal with it there , and while you're there , ask yourself why it was you ever moved away to begin with .

So many good anf bad deeds done in the name of this prophet and his followers want to prevent everyone else from seeing his image let alone pilloring it.
The PC crowd throw common sense out the window if they think that it is not ok to challenge this. It is an infringement of my freedom of speech not be able to view and comment on this image, if you find it offensive then look away !
The cartoon is funny

From the article attached to the picture...
Adresseavisen's cartoonist, Jan O. Henriksen, says that this is not a picture of Muhammad. Henriksen says this cartoon is completely different from the Jyllands-Posten cartoons, since he didn't draw it in order to be provocative. He didn't agree with his colleagues who supported the Danish Muhammad cartoonists. He says that here he's talking about people who hide behind religion in order to support terrorism. It's provocative that people think that if somebody waves the Islam card than people will give in on any criticism of what is a real terrorist act.

Bad news on the horizon. I think it's probably a good call to stop printing images of Muhammad, but this joke is really funny.

Good time perhaps as well to stop printing any independent news at all.
It is a religion we are talking about my friend - an irrational belief system. Don't take it so seriously...

The only problem I have with this is that it isn't remotely funny. If you're going to tempt the anger of the Middle-Easts vast multitude of disaffected, unemployed young men at least get a decent laugh out of it.

I thought it was very funny. In the context of death threats made to cartoonists working for a satirical newspaper it is utterly hilarious. Norwegians have balls.

I don't agree with Muslims killing people because they go against their religion, I don't believe in Islam and so should be able to draw the prophet Muhammad if I wanted to, it's like a Jewish person hunting me down and trying to kill me for eating pork...
But this picture is very antagonising and I can see how this would be offensive.

It's a religion's leader in what appears to be a suicide bomb, showing his bits. Defending the right to free speech is one thing but that does seem antagonistic and irresponsibly offensive to some.

It's not irresponsible to defend your right to free speech. besides Muhammad is quite a funny character, I'd like to see more of his wacky adventures. Maybe an animated series could be on the way?

Kind of seems a bit irresponsible to me, considering the amount of controversy and bad feelings the original cartoon caused.
What's your thoughts?
