The exaggerated sensationalism that this mosque is a victim of terrorism or hate crime against Muslims has been debunked. The story reported as "gassing of children in a mosque" amounts to inciting hysteria as can be seen in the bulk of the responses to this story here on current.com.
It's frightening to see how quickly people react with extremist attitudes without looking into the facts, when encountering a misrepresented story like this one about the incident at the mosque and the film "Obsession".
The video "Obsession" may have been presented in a dramatic style to elicit emotional response. But should we dismiss the entire content as false without investigating further?
Should comments and questions like those I am presenting here be immediately deleted and censored just because they don't simply jump on the bandwagon of the popular view?
Click the link for the original story at the top of this current.com post and read the discussion at the bottom.
From the comments section of the original story:
"What is reported is that a canister of pepper spray was found inside the mosque. and a young boy and his family were questioned. DennyInDayton is right. Inciting fear is simply wrong and doesn't matter which side it comes from. The sensationalist headline referring to "gassing" and meant to evoke the horrors of the Holocaust is despicable since the only reason for it was to garner personal attention and further some other agenda. We all know the reason that DVD was distributed was to encourage people to vote republican. The article above uses similar tactics to incite fear and panic where there is no need for it. Not any better." - 3 years ago

Terrorism is being used to provoke terrorism in order to justify what many radical Muslims view as Islamic Holy War or Jihad. We must not respond to terror and violence with more violence. We must practice forgiveness and understanding. Even when we are injured unjustly, unfairly, we must return only compassion and love. When injured we must not react with anger and hate. This is how Gandhi succeeded against the British Empire. This is the only way anyone will succeed against terror that comes from any organization, be it Islam, Israel or America.

Consider whether this crimminal act is grounds for a class-action suit... the distributors of this dvd should be brought to justice for inciting violence. It would be very interesting to discover the exact motive behind these distributions. whether it was monetary compensation or just trying to influence the election, the perpetrators must obviously be well connected in mainstream media or there would be a major outcry against this succession of events...
The only way they are able to hush it up is because they own the airways...well, almost...we need to be outraged and show it...

I emailed the link to everyone on my email list.
Why it wasn't even mentioned on national news, I'll never understand.
This behavior just goes to show what fear and hate can garner.
It also goes to show that people right here in the US can be just as mean and horrible as people from the Middle-East are portrayed.
How long will it be before real bombs are thrown at any person that is deemed "different?"
I can understand not giving a terrorist any television time.
But when this is suppressed, or barely reported, is it because Americans don't want to come to grips with the fact that there are people like this among them? - 3 years ago

What disgusts me more than the actual terrorist attack is the lack of coverage of it. The act was perpetrated by one or a few individuals. But millions of Americans are guilty of turning a blind eye. If it was a Christian church attacked by a Muslim man, you can bet it would be headline news for at least a day, and then used as political fodder for either party.

This unneeded violence towards children in unforgiveable...
Do we need to give reasons to attack us??
These people... monsters... who do this because of a video were obviously lacking before it was viewed.
10% of children in our christian schools are muslim. Will they attack there? Don't Americans realize how much we have in common?
The Koran pays more attention to the Virgin Mary than our own Bible. I see clear benefits from both religions, but there are some aspects that I like better of each and I like the Koran better for this reason.

What kind of sick mind would do something like this? Do they really hate these people or are they just easy targets? And if its hate, how can you hate a whole race of people? This kind of behavior should not be tolerated. They should be hunted down like dogs and thrown in jail for life. they will never reform and we don't need them anyway.

This is a story that should not, can not, and will not be ignored. On a level with the anti-integration terror campaigns of the 1960's this kind of attack is our own "respectable citizen" gone mad.

Freedom and justice and trust must be restored.

This is so incredibly sad and wrong. It makes me ashamed of our country, and the direction in which we have been steered, through fear-based rhetoric and down-right lies; through bigotry and an overblown sense of entitlement, through xenophobia and down-right ignorance. This is not just "one religion bashing another", this is hate, pure and simple - these were babies and young children - how shameful, how truly 20th century! Thought we were moving forward - this kind of behavior is exactly what we rail against - the targeting of innocent civilians, exactly what that hateful piece of work "Obsession" condems - the actions of radical extremists - how incredibly ironic and sad.

I actually received a copy of the Obsession DVD in the mail and was totally horrified by it (I live in Florida). But I guess I shouldn't be surprised because on my way to school today I also saw a truck with this huge flag waving that said "Pure blood in my veins. Yankee blood in my yard." It had a picture of a pit bull on it.
I hope there aren't many people actually taking this DVD seriously.

I've watched the DVD obsession entirely, even though it says that it does not discriminate against Muslim and that it shows only extremist Islamic groups but it still shows a tad bit of discrimination.
This news is of no surprise that it is linked to that DVD. This is a result of the culture of fear that has been embedded in our country.

Goes to show you how well the U.S. has address the racism caused by our war. You'd think after the civil rights era we'd be able to educate and inform people better on how our differences are not bad things and how views are not universal.
I got and watched the Obsession video (strictly out of curiosity) and I admit it can't be connected with this event at all, but just to give my opinion while I was watching the video I felt like I was watching a bunch of KKK clips from a different country.

Don't blame McCain for the actions of a bunch of idiots. To think a former P.O.W. (Senator McCain)would even think of being party to anything potraying all Muslims as some evil force shows you know nothing about the man.I don't know why people think the Republican party has a lock on stupid beliefs. Not to long ago Democrats were fighting to keep slavery and you think Repub's are evil. Anybody can make and distribute anything in this country. You can thank your liberals friends at the ACLU for that. You can disagree with someone in this country and not have to lose your life. As a black man who grew up in West Texas. I got to see how stupid some folks can be but this is like Dr. King's time. Killing women and children because they don't look, pray, speak, eat, dress or anything else like the majority. A sad day in the country I love. A country I served. This is only going to fuel problems for our troops. Far reaching beside the poor Muslim women and children. Ignorance is what got us in these types of messes throughout human history. Christians, Muslims and Jews alike have fought way before 2008. We never learn.

If we look back into the history of this country (not always in the history books) we will find that there are many skeletons IN THE COUNTRY'S CLOSET. Not just the Democrats, not just the Republicans. And you are right, welfare is not really a successful program, as it keeps people in minimum wage jobs. But hey- at least some of the children of these people are eating....I mean isn't that what the original intention of welfare was? To make sure children in one of the richest countries of the world were not going hungry just because their parents did not make enough money? But wait, isn't the same party who the pro-lifers flock to the same one that doesn't approve the welfare system? And the same party that swears that economic success only comes about by business de-regulation? Wow, if you don't see some of the loop holes in the current Republican party's talking points, you might not be seeing the whole picture.
But just as you mentioned before, the Democratic party is not without fault for any our nation's current problems. The problem is that we so strongly identify with a political party. But at the end of the day, they just end up turning people against one another....you're either on the Red Team or the Blue Team. That is why we have to be objective, and not label everything as 'liberl' or 'conservative' but just look at things with common sense in mind and compassion in your heart.

But one thing, if you really want to know what caused this financial mess it was not Clinton's administration it was Bush's. Look into how he used the O.C.C. to stop STATES from regulating sub-prime mortgage trading. It couldn't be regulated by the Federal government by law so he made sure states couldn't either.

This is sick. I hope whoever is responsible for this rots in hell. YOU have made me ashamed to be an American and ashamed to be a Christian. I pray that whatever God there is forgives us all. Is this what the Republican party has come to? Spewing hate and inciting violence? Apparently so.
