Tracy, Thank you for reporting on this. I heard it on BBC and was stunned. We as woman have got to begin asserting with a collective voice the atrocities happening to our sisters of all ages and nationalities. The world's heart has been numb too long and evil has prevailed. We need a feminine paradigm of partnership and cooperation, not a patriarchal one of power, competition and violence. This story came and went and horrifying as it is, we owe it to the young, young woman and the world to "process" it and protest it. Evil in the name of religion. How horrifying.

When I read the original story saying she was 23 I cried, when I read that she was begging for her life, I cried again, and now, reading this... I can only sit here in awe of the cruelty of the human spirit with my jaw dropped to the floor. I am so disgusted by this...

This story is nightmarish. There is absolutely no justification for murdering an individual on the grounds of supposed sexual immorality. On top of that, the fact that this girl was considered an adulteress for having endured one of the most extreme violations imaginable of her body and mind is evidence that the world is truly ill. And I shouldn't even have to make this point.
It's embarrassing enough that at one time in the United States, a woman's short skirt was a valid legal defense for her rapist. But if we fail to allow the crimes committed against this 13-year-old girl arouse our indignation, then we haven't come very far after all.
In the midst of a beautiful and historic moment in the U.S., I feel compelled to argue that Americans, and for that matter, human beings, cannot truly progress if we leave our brothers and sisters to decompose in the graveyard of ethics.

The thing is that there is nothing that's going to be done about this by the Somalian Government! Or even the UN! Or even Organizations that seek to protect women in countries like this. This is the tragedy after the tragedy! There is a kind of unresolvable anger associated with crimes like this!
Ok, you must be referring to the Koran. I get it. In a country where warlords rule, I know there is more to this story! It's these leaders who "grant such permission." I would bet that there was a mob involved! Mobs don't aren't about sanctioning anything!
This is just straight evil!! There's nothing right about it!!

I think the stoning of a woman of any age for any "crime" is despicable and completely unacceptable and could not possibly be sanctioned by any "Creator".
It should most definitely not be sanctioned or forgiven by any individual or any country.
Of all the atrocities we hear of in the world, this one shakes me to my core because of the heinous circumstances and the girl's age... I can't imagine the completely barbaric terror she endured
