Demise of the Tamil Tigers? Perhaps, but an Appreciation

Security analyst Dr. Zachary Abuza bullet points the innovations of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. In recent weeks, the Sri Lankan Army has managed to beat back the group that many consider to be one of the most sophisticated and determined insurgencies in the world. We'll be examining if this is the end of the LTTE or if they'll live to fight and another day. Either way, Abuza argues, that their legacy is secured by the influence they've had on other organizations around the world.

    • I'm confused Mariana. The title of this article suggests the demise of the Tamil Tigers, but the article/blog seems to indicate the conflict is far from over.

Ahh. You will be examining that. Good!

Like the IRA/Sinn Fein, terrorist organizations just don't seem to go away until they gain recognition of their complaints, and representation in the majority government. It's not capitulation, but why is it so damn difficult to understand?
