Having made major leaps in the way we email and search the web, Google has announced its next project - tackling the underlying code that makes the Web work with the release of their new open source programming language called GO.

Google claims GO is more versatile, accurate and speedy as it's a cocktail of the best elements of pre-existing web languages (Python, C++ and the Pascal/Modula/Oberon family) with the usual Google twist.

Rob Pike, Google's principal engineer, says it's not one for beginners due to it's complicated nature and should take about as long to learn as Java does.
