Fasting on Thanksgiving

I am fasting on Thanksgiving because I do not agree with the origins of the holiday. Thanksgiving is really a celebration of the slaughter of many Native Americans and the beginning of the many mistakes that this country has made and harm done to the innocent. This Thanksgiving I will be very thankful for the things that really mean something in my life, my health and my family. Not eating and being resilient is just a method to show myself and my family that they are all I need and the food is not the only thing that needs to be bringing us together. This is also a pledge to make an effort to see my family more even though I am in college and not home as much as I like to be.
