The Daily Mirror is reporting pop star Michael Jackson is in ill health and wants to leave his Beatles' catalogue rights, worth an estimated £350 million, to his former friend and colleague Sir Paul McCartney.

Mr. Jackson's biographer, Ian Halpernin, claims the 50 year-old King of Pop is purportedly suffering from a rare genetic disorder called Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, a form of lung disease, and is wheelchair-bound.

Mr. Jackson's acquisition of the rights to the Beatles' library drove a wedge between the two from which they never recovered. Jacko outbid Macca in 1985 to win ownership of the publishing rights to the whole Lennon-McCartney songbook. The Mirror claims Mr. Jackson is determined to make peace with his former friend and artistic collaborator, if not in this life then the next.

“Most of his estate has been divided up between his three children. But Michael told his lawyers he was sad he no longer talks to Sir Paul and said he wanted to make things right.”
