Automotive advertising over the top
Is anyone else besides me sick of seeing so many over priced over produced automotive adds. Doesn't anyone wonder why almost every add you see for a car or truck on tv has someone driving like a maniac. If everyone was to drive their cars the way they market them to us to drive, we would all be in jail. There are alot of people loosing their lives on the roads these days because they drive their vehicles like fools. They see it on every car commercial on tv, some racecar driver doing 90 miles an hour down a side street. Is that really how we need to promote driving to people? There are already enough crazy drivers on the road, we don't need any more.
How much money goes into advertising cars and trucks? How much money is the advertising industry sucking out of the auto industry? With so many line workers loosing there jobs because of the high cost of health care and the presure to make a profit, maybe the auto industry should look into wether or not the over priced adds they put on television really pay off in the end.
I have an idea lets market our vehicles as what they are...transportation to and from where we are going. Lets promote reliability and quality and safety- wouldn't that be a concept. Maybe even throw in the fact that we can make a car here in the USA that will run on fuel that doesn't have to be paid for with american blood.

There are a couple that really tick me off - one is the Cadillac Escalade (big surprise) - it has the most obnoxious 'neener, neener' quality - makes some of the Ugly Americans look even Uglier.
It would be nice if they'd cut back on the ads and give some of their employees their jobs back.
