Impressive, heartfelt footage....not many journalists know how to capture the truth the way it is told. Great work!

This is in response to dazz's comment: I think you have the wrong idea about what this video is trying to portray. This is NOT a situation in which Jews are against Jews or Israelis are against Israelis; Rather, the video reflects that the soldiers are handling the situation with great care and respect for their fellow Jews. They are crying with them and they are in pain together. I do agree with your later statements though....

Words aren't enough to express how this short film makes me feel. This is by far the most moving bit I have seen about the Gaza retreat!

Thank you for all your comments and criticism. To Hesh: While it is correct on paper to state that no soldiers from Gush Katif were required to participate in the disengagement, there were a number of cases which the infamous Israeli army bureacracy didn't catch. I spoke to a number of settlers who were actually deployed to evict themselves from their homes. This was especially true for "Keva" units, or career soldiers. Imagine what they must have been going through. I'm ordered to throw myself out of my house tomorrow. Should I resist myself? But you are correct in stating that this was an anomaly. This number is a tiny fraction of the percentage of soldier/settlers who refused to participate in the disengagement, and were granted permission by the army. If you watch the video in a different light perhaps, you will see that my point was not that the soldiers actually participating in the disengagement are settlers, but simply to reflect the interesting duality of the situation. Thanks.

very painfull and powerfull footage.
I just want to respond to one of the statments made "many of the soldiers are settlers". although as you metnioned many of the residents of gush katif are part of hte IDF the residents of gush katif where specifily not sent to take jews out of the area. this was something very intentional and i think it missrepresents the situation when the viewer gets the impresion that it's residents of the community who are throwing out other memebers. There where in fact many former IDF members who refused to be called up for reserve duty b/c theydidn't want to get involved. - 6 years ago

This could be great. It is somewhat distracting to offer this in first person narrative. The voice is kind taking advantage and not really adding anything to the true weight of the story. It should be about half this length as well. Just present what is charged, positve or negative, and let those moments tell this story. And get out of the way.

This is the best material that's come out of gaza. In one location you've captured the whole issue. Israeli, against Israeli, Jew against Jew and all the complications that result. The last shot of the soldiers removing the Tora is powerful and well handled. No voice over needed, the soldiers emotiions tell more that you can ever say.. Well done.

This has to be the best news piece I have seen on here yet!!!!
The fact that you focus on that a lot of the soldiers and the settlers are actually neighbors is a piece that was never really reported in the mainstream news.
Excellent Excellent job.. This piece should have been sent straight on to the tube while it was relevant!
