Postcard From Varanasi

Execllent work.

India is a fascinating place and so much is unknown to us [Americans]. I like how the artist captures wonderful images of Indian/Hindu life/culture rarely seen on US television.

Very educational, cultural or otherwise. The raw footage was one of a kind. When would you have ever learned about Varanasi? I think that the length was perfect especially considering all the info about these Hindu traditions.

Great piece! I noticed some repeated shots maybe more b'roll for the follow-up.

questions what is a "healthy" way to deal with death and the deceased. it's much better than pumping the body with formaldehyde and burying it in the ground.

i'm all for content that draws attention to our frequently infantile way of looking at the world. we live in a bubble in the west and pretend we will live forever and nothing will ever change. we can face ourselves when we can face our dead.

Yeah nice visuals.......I would called this : "Whitebread Abroad" or "From the white suburbs to the Sewers of India" This guy rminded me of the Marlin Perkins side kick.....Jim. Ya know.... I wonder if they had a relationship( Marlin and Jim that is ,,,).

The visuals were beautiful. I liked the fact that our traveler wanted to experience something other that the big cities and typical tourist crap. Put together wonderfully and in a way anyone could understand and follow. Great job.

Nice first package. a little too much wall to wall V/O. If he had good nat sound then that should have been given a little more space. Also he starts by saying he interviewed people, but we heard only a very short grab from each. Also concur with tenofquad in that we always see the American perception of the world and only rarely the world's perception of the US. Current is a good place to start reversing that bias.

Great stuff - I saw this one before the Current Studio was up and I was really impressed.

I want to see more travel pieces too. Not the junk from the travel channel. But like what Erik has done.
